Although out of the way, and for a stranger, difficult to find, this restaurant was very busy so its reputation must be very good. We were a party of 4 celebrating a birthday and received a warm friendly welcome upon arrival. Even though the restaurant is an eatery and part of a small chain, it felt like a privately run establishment.
I had the sausage and mash choice, which although I felt expensive at £10.95 for a simple home style food, it was superb. My friends also thought it expensive, for the style of food but they also felt the standard and quality was superb.
A good selection of draft beers were on offer but unfortunately, as the driver, my choice was a Stella, which was selected as they have no 'bog standard' low AV lager (ideal for drivers). This was disappointing as you must have a car to get there.
Overall, a very good experience. I would visit again, maybe on a hot Summer's day when I could appreciate the beautiful grounds.
