“What I expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2006

My focus to going to Keystone was to spend the day at the July 3rd fireworks at Mt. Rushmore so I was looking for a close hotel that was hopefully, safe, clean and quiet.
We first stopped by the hotel on the 3rd and asked for a late checkin and they accomodated us. So we went and spent the day at mt. rushmore and watched the fireworks. By the time we got to the hotel it was 11:30 pm.

The checkin was quick. The room was nice, large and clean. Now I paid $128 for the room and stayed at much better hotels for the price. But when you are there for the fireworks, all the hotels are expensive.

This one seemed not too bad for the money. Next morning we were up, had our breakfast buffet and then gone. So can't say there was anything bad about it. But if you are driving all the way to Keystone just to spend the day at the hotel, then you need to re-evaluate why you are going.

The attitude of the front desk staff was awful. They never acknowledged your presence and the client was always forced to start the conversation and in return the responses of the staff were monosylabic. All of them looked as though they had just been given bad news. Not a friendly place to stay.

Pity because the accomodation and the location were fine

My family and I went to This hotel on June 12, 2006.
When I made the reservation I requested a non-smoking room as well as internet in my room. We did not get any of these requests.

When checking out, we presented our complaints to the owner of this hotel, but he acted as if our complaints met little to him. Too bad, but you are paying the full amount, he implied. He kept on saying "everybody knows that room 315 is not internet wired", as if it were somehow our fault we did not get an Internet-accessible room. We didn't refuse to pay the bill, but we suggested a discount would have been appropriate, since we had to sleep in a room where a previous guest had obviously smoked (the smell was terrible) and we were not able to use the internet from our room. We had to pay the full $131, which is well above what other hotels in the area charge. Sometimes you think that paying more will get you more, but not in this case!
