“Quaint & Quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2010

Small, ceiling are low, very few amenities, but clean and quiet. Located in the small mining town of Keystone, just 3 miles from Mount Rushmore and several other attractions. Two staff, very friendly, not upscale but suits all your needs.

I would give this lodge a five star rating. Sherry and her staff treated her guests as if they were part of the lodge's extended family. Everyone we encountered stated they would stay again. It was a very relaxing atmosphere to begin and end our day.

A super comfy, cozy place to stay, love the clean rooms and the friendliest managers. It's like HOME! We love the crisp clean comforters on the beds (hate bedspreads). The people make the hotel the best place to stay. If you have friendly people who really treat you as "Friends" or "Family", that makes the trip perfect!

We loved our stay at Battle Creek Lodge while visiting Mt. Rushmore. It is located in the historic section of Keystone, about 3 miles from the Mt. Rushmore National Memorial. Jerry and Sherry are the managers and do an outstanding job. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and they treat it more of a bed/breakfast than anything else. They are delightful to visit with, and make you feel right at home. A great breakfast is included each morning with your stay. Guests from the pricey hotels across the street come over to visit and hang out.....then they check in at Battle Creek! This is a must on a visit to Mt. Rushmore!

Sherry and Jerry (the managers) at Battle Creek Lodge were EXCELLENT! The motel was modest, breakfast choices were limited, but the ambiance and cleanliness was the best! Really...I can not recommend this motel enough. We also enjoyed the hot tub! If you think the big chain motels can compete...think again! This (worldly) Wisconsin travel will stay here again when visiting the Black Hills!

Earlier reviews scary, but trusted latest ones. Happy for the try. Original owner back in charge with new staff. Facility very comfortable and extremely clean. Best way to describe is as an exceptional hotel with common ammenities but with a B&B atmosphere. Host couple provide services and the continental breakfast in lodge-type atmoshpere. Highly recommend.

The negative reviews must have been written before the ownership changed hands, as it's been upgraded and looks great! Much improved and a nice, cozy place to stay that's
within walking distance to everything in Keystone!
