“Nice large room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

We stopped by with no reservations. Friendly staff. There were three of us and the room was large enough. Didn't feel cramped. Only draw back was shower. Very short shower, if were tall may be a problem. Room was very clean and the location is great for walking to shops and restaurants.
Would stay again, but would try to get ground floor, no elevator.

My family and I were taking a walk along the main strip of Keystone and realized our final destination was too far for the kids there and back, My husband returned back to the hotel for our car, and upon return pulled into this parking lot. This was the safest place for our 6&8 year olds to board from where we were. Immediately a woman came running out of the hotel to yell at my husband. He pointed to us walking toward the car across the other end of the parking lot, but she kept insisting he could not be there. The parking lot was almost empty, yet this woman kept insisting he exit immediately. As I got within walking distance she preceded to tell me how my husband has an attitude and that there is absolutely no parking, standing (or apparently driving) in their parking lot. The whole experience was about 5 minutes, and most certainly tells me that the staff at this hotel is rude and does not care about children.

Stayed here for 2 nights, price wasn't bad. Got a nice king sized bed, enjoyed that! Everything was super clean and very nice. 2 things that need big improvements: the tv and the shower curtain. The tv was puny and older style and the shower curtain looked like something from the dollar store-thin as ever and kinda yellowish white. Breakfast was average-nice enough-but only from 7-9am. Overall it was a nice stay!

Did not make reservations so was happy to find a room. Had room 309 so on the the 3rd floor and as far back as you could go. No elevator or escalator (note the stairs in the picture). This was hard to walk up and carry your luggage especially after walking the path at Mt. Rushmore most of the day. Rooms were okay but not worth $100, and they wouldn't take my Discover card so had to come up with the cash. Staff was helpful and friendly and free parking while we walked around in Keystone. The breakfast was okay. Coffee, juice, cinnamon rolls, fruit filled donuts, waffles, cereal, and more. No pool.

Room Tip: Don't get on the 3rd floor ~ MANY steps!

My husband and I made reservations in advance. We called twice to make sure it would be okay if we checked in after 10 pm. Both times we were told that the office closes at 10pm, but a security guard would be there to check us in. We arrived at 10:30 and no one was around. We walked around for over a half hour not knowing what to do. We considered looking for another motel, but we were afraid we would be charged. We saw a sheriff eating at the restaurant beside the motel, so we asked him if he had any idea where we could find security. He phoned security, and an officer showed up a few minutes later to check us in. Apparently, the motel staff forgot to hang a sign with a phone number for security. VERY ANNOYING EXPERIENCE, especially after so many hours in the car.

The rooms are comfortable, quiet, fresh, and roomy. The only complaint we had is that the shower is very low. I am only 5'5 and the shower was lower than my chin. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it was for my husband and son to shower.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was okay. It consisted of coffee, juice, cinnamon rolls, fruit filled donuts, waffles, cereal, and more. The cinnamon rolls are awesome.

Motels in this area are very high, but $100 a night is still too much for this motel.

Had it not been for my check in experience, I would recommend this motel. Hopefully my experience is very rare.

Stayed three nights during Sturgis bike rally and found the Boardwalk Inn & Suites better than we had anticipated. Short notice to get a reservation was no problem and the Inn went out of their way to guarantee we would be able to stay literally one day before we planned to arrive. The rooms were very clean and larger than the norm but there were no extras usually found in hotel/motels, i.e., blowdryer, microwave, mini fridge. The staff were super nice and accomodating and we were allowed to check in at 10am after driving 14 hours straight so that was very much appreciated. We found especially nice the Russian and Romanian exchange students who were there for the summer working at the Inn and their restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a mini fridge when making a reservation and for a room overlooking the main street that take...

We recently stayed at Boardwalk for the Sturgis Rally and we weren't sure what to expect but we where very happy. Rooms where very clean and spacious. The rooms where very basic not a lot of extras but adequate and the price was right. We would have liked to have a fridge and maybe even a microwave but did without and everything was okay. Hair dryers are not standard in the room but they will provide one if you make a request at the front desk, All of the staff where courteous and very helpful. Towels where provided for bike cleaning. Breakfast was simple but enough to start your day. Beds and pillows very comfortable and the rooms very quiet made for a great nights sleep.
