“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Our family stayed at the Holiday Inn for 2 nights so we could visit Mt. Rushmore. Our room was clean and met our needs. We really liked the indoor pool and hot tub. The breakfast was nice and it tasted fresh. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We were fortunate that we had accumulated enough Priority Points for a free stay so I can't comment on the cost. However, we found the motel certainly up to or exceeding H/I Express standards. It's extremely convienent to Mt. Rushmore, restaurants and other attractions in the area. Our room was good sized and very clean. The public areas were also clean and inviting.

Just your average hotel for the very high price. We paid $230 + $20 in tax per night because we thought it to be above your average hotel. Not so.

It isnt worth the extra money to stay here vs other hotels either in keystone or elsewhere in the area. If you dont want to stay in Rapid, i recommend Hill City instead for the value. Nicer town too in my opinion.

The room was spacious and clean. The location was great for going to Mt. Rushmore, Chief Crazy Horse, Bear Country and other attractions. Very easy walking distance to main drag of restaurants and tourist gift shops. The staff was very friendly, helpful and offered many suggestions and recommendations. I travel alot for business and pleasure and stay in hotels from 5 star (Waldorf Astorias/Ritz Carlton) down to Motel 6. I rate this property very good because it offers the basic, not exceptional breakfast, not a made to order eggs/omelets buffet. I don't know what others paid for their rooms, especially the "Save your money" reviewer, she probably could have stayed in Rapid City where all the major chains have properties.
There was always hot coffee in the lobby every time I wanted a cup of coffee and I drink a lot of coffee.

My husband and I booked this hotel because the chain we generally stay at did not have any properties in Keystone. The location was great for going to Mt. Rushmore and many other attractions, but for the price we paid, we expected more. The coffee in the lobby was always empty and/or cold. No one seemed very interested in it. The breakfast was awful. The omelettes were scorched and cold. The ham slices were scorched and cold. The hard-boiled eggs were in a small refrigerator and they were standing in water. There was no breakfast attendant in sight. Check in and out was OK, nothing special. We will not stay there again.

We had a 2 Queen Room and from walking in it smelt strange, damp, like there had been a leak. The rooms were spacious enough, if it a little dated. Plenty of parking outside (although it did get busy later through the day) and within walking distance of down-town Keystone. Breakfast was fine, with a reasonable choice of hot and cold items. Must say the cost of the hotel was high compared to what you got, obviously playing on being so close to Mt Rushmore. I would think there are better places in the vicinity.

Parking: Terrible, Breakfast: Crowded but cinnamon rolls were good Lobby: Nice but small...They should take a page from the decor and go with that in the rooms. Rooms need an update so even tho clean they were still a little depressing. Furniture was well worn...just not what I expected for the price. No fridge. Location was great but not worth the price.
