“Recommended (but has smoking rooms)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

Stayed one night on a trip up to Scotland to break the long journey up. It's simple to find, only a minute off the M74, and guests get free parking, with spaces just outside the building. Check-in was quick and easy, with a friendly receptionist who told us everything we needed to know (rooms, food, free paper etc.).

The only real surprise was discovering that we had booked a smoking room; we didn't even know these still existed!!! The receptionist changed it to a non-smoker and kept the price the same (she explained the non smoking rooms are more expensive). The room was nicely laid out, flat screen TV, tea/coffee, hair dryer, nice comfortable bed, clean bathroom with shower. There is no noise from the motorway and overall the place is very quiet.

We went to the services next door for an evening meal; the food was well cooked, a good choice and reasonable prices. We had breakfast there the next day. £7 and if you buy the voucher in advance you get free tea/coffee. Again, everything was nicely cooked and all of it was better than the average fare found in overpriced services elsewhere.

So easy to find, free parking, nice rooms, good food available, friendly staff and all for £39 double room plus breakfast. What's not to like. We would stay again and it's recommended but be aware of the smoking rooms; if it was full you may be stuck with one.

We stayed for one night on our second house hunting trip to Scotland.
After finishing work at 4 p.m. we wanted an overnight stop near Glasgow before moving on the next day.
The hotel is just off the M74 but down in a dip so there is no motorway noise at night.
The rooms are spacious & clean bed very comfortable, powerful shower with plenty of hot water.
We took a picnic because we arrived late so we didn't try the eatery. We set off early the next morning so missed Breakfast which is discounted if you stay the night, (about £7 i think).
We would defiantly recommend this Hotel as a stopover or a base for touring for a couple of days.

After a day's driving from Essex with our destination the far North West Coast of Scotland Day's Inn is a great place to break a long journey. Having spent 12 hours visiting the Yorkshire Dales and then Eskdalemuir and driving the A708 through beautiful scenery including St. Mary's Loch it was good to get here to rest and chill out. Reception was friendly and helpful. The room (19) was spacious and clean & tidy and the bed was extremely comfortable. The facilities close by we're good and not in the least obtrusive. Although we did not have breakfast preferring to make an early start breakfast is available for a small fee. We would certainly use this location again.

Room Tip: Room 19 is a Family room on the ground floor close to reception.

Took advantage of a promotion for staying at the Inn for two consecutive nights. Excellent deal. Great friendly service and comfortable room. Very reasonable eating facilities close by. All in all excellent value for money. My dog enjoyed walking in the hills adjacent to the Inn.

We stayed here Friday night to make an early start up to the Highlands Saturday. The room was basic and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean. Dogs were welcome. The staff took the car reg number on checking in so no issues with the car park.

We found this a great location for a stop over while heading north. The rooms are basic and clean. The staff are always very helpful. The price is reasonable. Just what you need for a short over night stop before the onward travel. My only negative for all these basic hotels is lack of pillows on the bed but that's a personal thing. The bed itself was comfortable.
We had a late dinner in the service station and were pleasantly surprised at the standard of food.

This stop over is very cost effective unless you fall victim to a nasty car park scam.
Stay longer than the booking out time and when you get home you will find that the outside contractors who run the carpark have imposed an "illegal" £90 fine on you.
Back to the travel lodge, the place is warm, clean and the staff are helpful and friendly.
The downside is the place is tired and needs some refurbishment.

Thank you for your feedback concerning your stay at Days Inn Abington. We take care to ensure our guests have free parking when they stay with us. On arrival we request your registration number is written on the registration card and it is entered into the parking eye system on the desk this allows us to check all our guests cars have been correctly registered before they depart the next day. If you would contact the hotel direct we can find out why you would have recieved a parking fine. I would also like to advise we are currently replacing our curtains and freshening up the paintwork and do apologise this had not been done prior to your stay. We hope we get the oppertunity to welcome you back in the near future so you can see the improvements.
