My fiance and I stayed two nights in the Bird's Nest. The Tanner's (the owners) are wonderful and friendly. The room was very, small but everything was arranged so well that it did not feel cramped at all. There was a TV with VCR, a radio and alarm, microwave, fridge, toaster, places to hang jackets, lugguge slid right under the bed, there was a little table and cup board stocked with everything (cups, coffee, sugar, forks, knives, bowls, spoons, coffee maker, can opener) and they even had creamer in the fridge and some snacks such as nutrigrain bars. We took one on the first day and when we came back there were additional snacks. The bathroom was also nice with a shower stall, plenty of room to put things and also had dish soap to wash our dishes and bug spray! We didn't think we would need bug spray for some reason and ended up being completely wrong and thankfully there was some in the room. There is a general store nearby that has everything you could need. The restaurants in Ashford close pretty early so when we left the park around 9 we just stopped at the general store bought some groceries and came back and made dinner in our room. For how small our room was it was so well-equipped and it did not even feel cramped! Plus the bed was so comfortable after a long day of hiking. We tried the shared jacuzzi one night since there was an hour opening at 10 pm (there is a sign up board just outside and you share the jacuzzi with the other 3 rooms). You just write your name in an hour timeslot and the jacuzzi is yours for the hour. It was very relaxing! The park entrance is just a few miles down the road so it was very convenient and the drive from Seattle was very easy and it was not hard to find Jasmer's at all. No internet or cellphone coverage reaches here. Not even verizon. I have a verizon wireless card for my laptop that works everywhere and there was no signal here, no internet in the room and no signal for cell phones which was great because none of my fiance's employees were able to call him or email him with fires needing to be put out, which is what happens everytime he takes a day off. It was great to be unreachable. I didn't tell him this until we were on our way so he couldn't do anything. Just be warned that we were hiking at Paradise and suddenly he got reception at the high altitude and all of the text messages and voicemails came pouring in, which we didn't expect. My advice: keep the phones turned off. This was a great, homey and cozy place to stay, the owner's are great and the price was so much better than what the other places were charging at that time of year. We will definitely stay here again.
