“100% Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

Yesterday we held our Annual Conference at the Moathouse and it is impossible to fault a single thing. The service, refreshments, evening food and hospitality was without fault. In an age when mediocrity is the norm, this establishment raises the bar and is exactly what others should strive for. Well done to all management and staff.

By coincidence we have been to the Moat House for an early dinner the last 2 Sundays and find it excellent. The food is delicious and flavoursome served very professionally by very pleasant young people at very affordable prices in an attractive room. They offer a wide range of wines by the glass in various sizes which helps everyone to have what they want. The portions are not huge but have not left us wanting. This leaves us the day free but gets us home by 9.00ish on a Sunday evening - perfect for us.

I decided to pay a little more and stay one night at the Moat House instead one of the national chains as i had business in Stafford the next day. It was worth every penny, the room was very modern and clean with everything you need. The road to the hotel is a little tight but there is plenty of parking once there. Check-in was straight forward and i decided to eat in the bar that evening. The food was okay but i found the "local pub" feel which was sort of attached to the hotel didnt really work for me. The breakfast was excellent and the customer service was also very attentive, so top marks for that. I would certainly stay here again and the hotel certainly deserves its 4 star rating.

We had dinner in the restaurant yesterday evening and everything about it was fabulous. The staff were attentive and very charming. The food was superb, particularly the lemon meringue etc. dessert ! I can't fault it, thank you.

We stayed at The Moat House on our drive up to Scotland over a bank holiday weekend. As a couple with 2 small children we find paying a bit more to have interconnecting rooms worth every penny which is why we chose to stay here in the first place.

Hotel staff were friendly and efficient from check in to breakfast the next day.

There was a wedding party when we arrived in the evening, but we didn't hear a thing throughout the night.

Spacious, clean, well equipped, modern rooms.

Breakfast was fantastic, wonderful selection of fresh fruit and juices, cereals, pastries and yogurts. The cooked breakfast was quite substantial and very well presented.

The surroundings are wonderful, we spent the afternoon on the lawn watching the ducks in the pond and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it.

Room Tip: Room 140 and 141 are interconnecting and far away from the main entertainment areas so you won't...

We married at the moathouse early this year and our wedding weekend there was truly unforgettable. The staff were attentive and extremely helpful and the hotel was beautiful and tasteful. My wedding party and guests stayed there for two nights and many commented on what a lovely hotel it was with great service.

The hotel is like a tardis, so our wedding party didn't disturb any guests who were also staying there during that weekend. It's a lot bigger than it looks!

It's a nice drive down a country road to the hotel and the grounds are picturesque with swans and ducks wandering around the lake. Having this hotel as a backdrop to our wedding photos was amazing.

The hotel pub and restaurant has a lovely country feel to it with a fire and big wooden tables and the food is filling and very tasty.

The rooms are clean and accessible and staff are at hand to help with any problems, even providing batteries for their camera at no cost!

Would definitely recommend this hotel for a quiet weekend away or a wedding.
