“Definitely make the trip to Hibiscus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013 via mobile

The second time we've been here for dinner : a fantastic meal! Don't get put off by walking down a flight off stairs to go to a restaurant in the lower level of a hotel: Hibiscus has a welcoming and friendly staff and a comfortable ambiance.
Three nights a week there is live jazz: quality players from the NYC area make this a totally unique experience.
But most of all there is this fantastic, wide ranging menu. Caribbean and Jamaican dishes are featured but there are other options I guess for those people who aren't drawn to a wide range of Caribbean specialties and they are outstanding
Perfectly prepared fish, oxtails, curried goat, jerk chicken, coconut shrimp..... Too much to choose from. Everything we've had has been exceptional. This is the kind of menu that will draw you back for more: an adventure that won't disappoint
In an area with many fine restaurants, Hibiscus easily holds it's own.

“great Jamacian food (they had other food too)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

I went to the Hibiscus Restaurant with my son last night and had a totally wonderful dining experience. It is a low key restaurant and our server Karlene could not be more charming. We started with the appetizer platter with jerk chicken and shrimp and coconut shrimp with a chutney sauce. For dinner we had the curried goat and the chicken stew with beans and rice with sweet bananas and and it was delicious. We kicked it up a bit by adding scotch bonnets (go easy) and everything was delicious. For desert we had a bread pudding that was out of this world. An older couple next to us had a 16 oz. pork chop and he said that it was his third best meal ever behind his wife's chicken and dumplings and a dinner in (i think) Thailand. It is and has been on my list for casual yet upscale food. Not too expensive

“Always happy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

This was our third visit. Each time the food was great. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves which made me happy and sad... There is something for everyone on the menu, it isn't strictly Caribbean. I'm already thinking about what I'm going to get next time.

Found Hibiscus through a Restaurant.com gift certificate and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was superb, the service was excellent. Intimate, warm, delightful light jazz ambiance. We'll be back again soon.

“Great food and very friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We had a wonderful experience at Hibiscus. Jerk chicken is great and all the other food was wonderful. Seasoned to order from mild to spicy as each diner wished. Definitely worth a trip back.
