I went to see Brian Setzer's Christmas show here and loved the architecture and the environment. I will definitely come back here as it is very convenient.

“Just plain well done”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

This place is well run, constantly busy with various interesting venues, and usually has wall to wall volunteers to help with whatever. Sound system is good and stage visibility nice.

“Great local theater.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

Recently visited to see the Nutcracker Suite by the NJ Ballet Company. Had been to the theater a few times before. Mostly sat in the balcony. There really is not a bad seat in the theater. We went for rear balcony, front row seats this time, and were still center stage, could see and hear everything clearly. Its great to know that you can save a little money by buying cheaper seats, but still get a great theater experience. The concession area is right at the theater entrance and that can be a bit tight ti maneuver around. They have small concession areas upstairs, but they were not open during our performance. Parking is mainly on street or in lots or garages, so be prepared to walk a bit, but not far. There are also a lot of great restaurants in Morristown to grab a bite to eat before a performance or a drink afterward. They do have someone big name acts at the theater so it is always worth checking out the schedule to see what is coming up next.

“Quaint venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Historic venue in a cute 'downtown' area. Saw Madeleine Peyroux perform there -- great music for this intimate venue. A handful of local restaurants within walking distance, too.

“Great Venue Near Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

We live within commuting distance of the Mayo Performing Arts Center, so it is our go-to place for live entertainment and concerts without the expense of going to New York City. The theater has good acoustics and comfortable seating, and recent restroom renovations have made it even more comfortable for everyone. The programming is eclectic -- meaning they try to program for everyone's tastes, from ethnic dance groups, to Broadway show tunes, classical music, ballet, children's shows, nationally known rock and pop musicians. We attend around 8 shows a year at MPAC, as it is now calling itself, and would probably attend even more if the programming wasn't quite as broad as it is. The last show we saw was Gregg Allman, who was surprisingly talkative and personable apart from the Allman Brothers Band. It was the kind of concert that the MPAC does well -- a well known performer in a more intimate setting. Parking can be challenging because the area can get congested, but there is plenty of parking around if you know where the lots are or if you luck out and find a parking space on the street. The theater's website is a great resource for parking tips and other information. You can take some of the pressure off if you just go early. We typically arrive a couple of hours before a concert and have dinner at one of the many restaurants within walking distance of the theater. (Check out the theater's website for restaurant info.) It makes for a great evening every time.
