“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

As a new area local, I looked forwarded to dining here and was very disppointed in the food quality. While the dishes appear to be creative, the food was overcooked and overseasoned.
However the service is impeccable and old school. The dining room is old fashioned and that is refreshing if you are into nostalgia. Sincerely hope in future it improves as would love to return.

“What an experience. Don't pass it up”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013 via mobile

Loved my experience. Dined on a Wednesday night for our 3rd anniversary. Made a reservation. Had a nice corner booth table that was very intimate. Our server Angel was very polite and knowledgable about the menu. He had great table side manners. Did not rush us at all. Wine menu perfect for any consouier. Food was top notch. Started with shrimp cocktail (special that night) foie gras, and the escargot. Soo delicious all three. Perfect portions well worth the price. Entree we split the ahi tuna. Perfectly cooked with complimenting sides. The menu said $6 plate charge for sharing but they never charged us. For dessert we also split the grand mariner soufflé, the dish was enormous but so delicious. Overall the meal, price, atmosphere, staff were A+. My first time and definitely not my last. Keep it up.

“Could learn from TGIF”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Ordered the Hanger steak special medium received it well done. Was offered some sauce or ketchup to make it better. Told the owner of the situation and he said oh and that was it. Had a similar problem with an overcooked steak at TGIF a few weeks back and the manager came over apologized took it off our bill and bought the table a round of drinks. Sad that The Grand Café's only solution was more sauce or ketchup. Extremely disappointed with the dining experience and also surprised that a chain restaurant handled it better than this place. You would expect more when you spend over $250 for 2 people.

“My new favorite place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013 via mobile

We had dinner here on a Friday night with friends from out of town. The atmosphere is warm, elegant and inviting. We ordered drinks before dinner; Maker's Mark Manhattan, a gin gimlet and a Bombay Sapphire dirty martini. The glasses had all been chilled. My gimlet was made with fresh lime juice and it had to be the best I've ever tasted. Our appetizers: The warm Brie salad was delicately delicious. Another had oysters and they were also excellent- presented on shaved ice with seaweed and 1/2 a wrapped lemon to keep pits out of the food. The shrimp cocktail was perfect with a just right spicy sauce. Everyone enjoyed their entrees which ranged from a perfectly cooked sirloin steak med-rare - a delicate, melt in your mouth Dover Sole- Liver with onions & bacon- double thick grilled veal chop - and a simple grilled chicken breast. The wine list is incredible. The labels and vintages they list are as impressive as the price tag although there are more modest and excellent choices available. The service was attentive, personable and engaging. The decor is beautiful. This could easily be a venue for a romantic special occasion. Dessert was a delicious chocolate soufflé. Our experience was perfect in every way. The owner came over to see if we were enjoying our meals and to thank us for being there. He also spoke with us when we were getting ready to leave. We will definitely put this place on our list of go-to places.

“Old School fine dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013 via mobile

Conveniently located in downtown Morristown, the Grand Cafe offers a solid menu, varied wine list and reasonably priced menu ($$$). Each dish was attractively presented, perfectly prepared and flavorful. The menu is al a carte and we chose sides of sautéed mushrooms, mac & cheese (both great) and grilled asparagus with cheese, the only disappointment of the evening.
