“A rise in temperature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

Leaving the cold north to head to Cromer increased our car's temperature gauge by 15 degrees. We visited Northrepps Cottage Country Hotel for a few days and what a pleasure it was. The ambience was good and our executive room excellent. The bed and bedding were vey comfortable and the shower a pleasure to use. There was real coffee in the room, as well as tea and hot chocolate and really tasty biscuits. The breakfasts were just to our liking with a good selection of fruit and cereals and nicely cooked food with plenty of tea and coffee all served by the friendly staff. The evening meals were good also, served in a relaxed manner and not rushed in any way. We used the time to visit Norfolk and enjoyed temperatures in the 20s! This was just what we needed and the hotel gave us somewhere nice to go back to in the evening. I would definitely go back there again.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the hotel. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed although on one of the days of our stay the room had not been properly serviced ( for example the bin in the bathroom had not been emptied). This was quickly rectified by the management. The meals were good on the whole although on our final evening there the dish I ordered was not as it was described in the menu - two items were missing. Again this was quickly rectified. The next morning, instead of a 'full English', we chose the hot croissants for breakfast. Unfortunately all four had to be returned as they were still frozen and uncooked in the middle. We made do with toast. The staff were friendly and the hotel was in lovely grounds and in a very peaceful location.

The manager, Matt gave us a really warm welcome. Our room and bed was large, the bathroom excellent. We had dinner and it was not good. LikewiseBreakfast not brilliant, 2 different chefs. Would we stay here again, yes but we'd go elsewhere to eat.

This hotel rates a score of 12 out of ten!!! We had a 5 day break - that is a 5 nights at the hotel. We were seeking a quiet break in a first class hotel with charm and character. Located a few minutes walk from a village and from the beach it is set in woodland away from any close neighborough.

The room - on the ground floor by the front door - was clean, well appointed, and excellent value for money. The management and staff were professional - from the moment we arrived until we left - we found all members of staff were friendly, polite, chatty, helpful and every thing you would or could want to add value to a short break.

THE FOOD - we had breakfast each morning and dinner on four nights. Mid stay we ate out in Cromer which is only a few minutes drive away. Back to the food at the hotel - the range of food was excellent. A small hotel with a good menu and personal service - all the food was well presented and reasonably priced. To say it was 'well cooked' would be to insult the chef!! The food was 5 star plus.

The bar was well stocked, well appointed and during the non-function days was a pleasure to use.

Generally speaking the hotel was quiet and just what we had been looking for. Yes there were the odd noises caused by people entering the hotel late - but nothing to cause alarm or annoyance.

During our stay - on a Friday and Saturday night - the hotel function room was in use for 2 charity functions. The function room shares the bar with the residents. The first function on the Friday night caused no disruption to our use of the bar or dining room. There was some late noise but the function ended at a reasonable hour. We were made aware that one family with a young child did have to move the youngster to another bedroom because of the noise. For us Saturday was somewhat different. The bar was wall to wall with function supporters, fortunatly we were able to hi-jack a member of staff and get pre-dinner drinks outside the bar. There was probably some disruption to the dining room service but nothing worthy of complaint. The quality of food and the friendlyness of the staff remained at their very high level. The noise though was something worthy of complaint. The shear volume from people talking - shouting would be a better description - vehicles driving past the window on the gravel surface and all those noises associated with a drinks function rang through the hotel. This hotel is a small hotel and thus there is nowhere to hide from the noise which continued until after 1.00am. I know the functions were for charity - i wiork for 2 charities so know how important fund raising is BUT we were there for a quiet few days - we chose this hotel because it appeared to be tucked away and quiet.

WOULD I RECOMMEND THE HOTEL ------ YES most definitely AND YES we will stay again BUT we will check to see if there are any functions on!

Overall I would still score the Hotel {and all members of the staff} 12 out of 10!

Room Tip: Choose a room on the first floor away from the front door. ASK ABOUT THE FUNCTION ROOM!!!!

Attended, with about 50 others, a fund raising dinner for EAAA. The staff were attentive, food was superb, nothing too much trouble. They did very well with service and the food was hot and plentiful with a lovely selection of fresh vegetables. I would recommend this place to all.

Went to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday in a party of six. Arrived in the bar, no-one asked if they could take our coats or hang them up despite the fact they saw us take them off and pile them on to a chair. Menu was handed to us and was a flimsy piece of A4 paper! This set theh tone. We were not shown to our table, we "followed our instinct" and eventually found our table. There were only about two other tables occupied - we soon found out why. No manager was on duty, and the staff were not professional or experienced although friendly enough. We sat down and had our first course, and no-one had appeared to ask us if we wanted wine. Eventually after quite a wait we managed to order a bottle of wine. This was literally "plonked" down at the end of our table with the comment "there you are" and we were left to open the bottle and pour our own.

Food was mediocre at best - with a bit of attention to raising standards and training staff to be more professional this hotel is in a pleasant enough location.

There was no atmosphere and no manager on duty to advise or correct the clearly inexperienced staff.

Will not visit again. Pity.

Picked this hotel for Valentine break for my partner, had a little trouble finding it. Hotel was a lovely building. Grounds look lovely. Was met with a warm welcome, and room had a lovely deep bath. Had a room at the front of hotel which had a lovely view. Staff were friendly and first class and we didnt have to wait long for our meals. Would happyly go back there again.
