We are a family of four aged 36, 40, 10 and 9 and stayed here from 10th-24th August 2009. When I booked back in May 2008 the First Choice brochure didn't show the new "attic rooms" , which are built into the roof. So I when I originally requested a high floor(wanting peace and quiet.) I was expecting a third-floor room overlooking the pool. How cheated I felt! On arrival we were allocated room 604, which was an attic room with the added disadvantage of being above the bar area. The noise from the bar was unbelievably loud and we got no sleep at all for the first few nights. If you want to go to bed before 12-1.00am ask for room away from reception/bar (rooms 501-605 are all located here). On our fourth night we were moved to room 405 which was another attic room but at least away from bar area. None of these top floor apartments provide a pleasant balcony experience-they are quite small and you have to stand up to see over high wall as they are built into roof. However, I was so pleased to move that this was a something I was prepared to endure! On the plus side the kids absolutely loved the swimming pool with waterslides and made loads of friends within the complex. The slides are turned on twice per day in the morning and afternoon and the bar staff usually organize pool games for everyone which is good fun. The food served at the apts is very nice and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Sacha did try to persuade people to book themed nights, such as Barbecue night/Lottery night etc(which we did and found good value for money), but we didn't feel pressured to eat there every evening. We did eat lunch there every day though as we could never drag kids away from pool! There were two main issues with the pool. Firstly as stated in other reviews people were reserving sunbeds from 5.30am onwards and if you got up after 7.00am they were all taken. This did improve in second week when one particular group left as they often reserved loads of sunbeds and only a few were used all day as tsome of the group went out on excursions! The manager Ali did announce that if this happened he would move towels off reserved beds for people actually at the pool. The other concern was to do with the numerous amount of children who experienced ear infections whilst we were there-my daughter suffered from this and the official word was that it was due to the amount of time being spent in water rather than the pool itself.......my advice is to invest in some good quality earplugs in UK or swimming caps. The area at the top of the "rainbow slide" could have done with a good clean-gungy water lay stagnant there and grew increasingly green as time went by!
The beach in Icmeler wasn't great-the sand/shingle mix described in brochure could be better described as grit/building rubble which made getting in and out of the sea very painful-definitely need sandals for this. The sunbeds were also packed together across the whole beach which was a bit claustrophobic and so we only went there once.
The food in the resort was pretty good everywhere we went and there were lots of places to choose from, but you are constantly pestered by waiters trying to drag you into there place-it does get annoying after a while.
The shopping was good if you like this sort of thing and there were lots of trips-so plenty to do.
On the whole Icmeler wasn't for us-too british, too commercial and poor beach. Think we are too used to small village resorts in Greece and were surprised by how busy Turkish resorts are in comparison. However, The Palm Gardens itself was a lovely place to stay (depending upon your room allocation) and felt welcoming, friendly, safe and secure for families with children.

Good bits:

+ Arrived after 11pm at night and the guys made us some pizzas!
+ Great bar, restaurant and pool
+ Reasonably priced and plenty of choice (although not much variety for breakfast)
+ Some really friendly staff (Ali is a legend and his impressions of Sharon the rep -who is constantly moaning about being ill -are hilarious!)
+ Rooms are fine and were cleaned regularly (although even when you were trying to sleep which was a bit odd and annoying)
+ Shop around the corner very handy
+ Excellent location right in the middle of icmeler tho not too noisy

+ Food service is shocking, great food but a massive bias to serving pikey families with lots of kids first even if you ordered before them
+ £30 for air con is expensive but essential and is only in the bedroom -you have to have it on when you sleep as it is too hot but it makes a lot of noise
+ the staff like you to attend all their theme nights and can be a bit funny with you if you dont go along, best way is to sneak out one at a time!
+ the tellies in the bar dont work too well (for you footy fans)
+ people reserve their sunbeds well before 7am -this is pathetic and despite Ali threatening to sell any unattended towels a fair system wasnt enforced

Icmeler is great though i must admit the variety of entertainment is a little bit butlins like and lacks quality. Throughout the week you will notice that Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury and Elvis impersonators (mostly crap) will alternate every bar in the town. Other than that you will have to put up with the usual europop from the early 90s that the turks think we brits all love.

Somebody open a bar over there that plays 60s, 70s and 80s classics all night and you will clean up!!!

The beach is good and 5 lira for 2 sunbeds all day with bar and food service is excellent value. There are some great tours and trips but dont book with first choice they are twice as expensive and sharon's justification was 'you get what you pay for' - well sharon i paid 15 pounds for an all day boat trip (through 'no name tours' on the main road) with lunch and transfers with plenty of swim stops instead of the same trip on the same boat for 25 pounds with you.

All in all, Icmeler is great for families and couples and this hotel is probably better than most. Not a great nightlife for younger generation but you can get a bus to marmaris for all of that.

Just arrived back and have had a lovely holiday, all guests are British the boys (16) and (12) made loads of friends, everyone is so friendly. The gardens around the pool are beautiful. Sun bed wars as with prob all hotels! last day got up at 5-45am by 7-00am all sunbeds have gone. Pool was fantastic the slides are switched on twice a day and are great fun for kids and adults alike. Food in restaurant is nice and theme nights are good when there is a good crowd. Didn't get much hassle for going out to eat, I think some people have gone a bit over the top with that! As for the loo roll this makes me laugh, ITS SELF CATERING and there is a supermarket just around the corner, sure some people can't find anything else to moan about! The locaton of the hotel is perfect just up the road from the Elvis bar away from the hustle and bustle of the main road. The rooms are nice we where on the top floor so was hot and lots of stairs to climb which is a nightmare when your tired! The beds are very uncomfortable very hard really missed our bed at home lol. The boys had sofa beds which my eldest said was uncomfortable but managed to lay till late lol.
Trips are a must, Jeep safari you get to see how beautiful the area is, mountains, tiny villages and a lovely lunch, and its cooler. Quad biking for the more adventurous, boat trip to get a lovely tan and to have a relaxing day in the sea with the fish.

Places to eat, we went to Old Town, there is a sign post from the main road lots of small restaurants perfect for a quite evening meal away from all the hassle and traffic on the main road, a nice place to go for a walk the views are amazing.

Weather is very hot in August 42-50 degrees and can get above 50 during a heat wave!! We only went to the beach in the evening, lovely to lay on a sun bed and look up at the stars :-)

You can take the Dolmus into Marmaris 2 lira each way lovely journey, we preferred Icmeler so only went Marmaris a couple of times.

Just returned from the Palm Gardens apartments, had a really good holiday, but the rooms were NOT clean, the cleaners were in the rooms for approx 3 mins the only place they mopped was the bathroom floor. However they were spacious but the only room with air con was the bedroom so if you had teenagers sleeping in the lounge it got very hot! The air con cost £30 per week and the safe was £20 so take extra money with you. Also be prepared to buy your own toilet paper as this is not provided!
The pool and slides were excellent for the kids and adults.
To get a sunbed round the pool you have to be up by 0700 or you will miss out.
The meals in the restaurant were very good and reasonable and the theme nights were entertaining and good value.
The staff were excellent especially Yoshi, Ozzy and Ali.
Sasa was very annoying as you had to justify yourself every evening as to why you wasn't eating in their restaurant and were you where going ( he was on commission and would have been very happy for you to spend 24/7 in the apartments).
Icmeler is very busy with lots of entertainment and it would be shame not to go and experience it.
The market is a must with lots of fruit and cheap clothing although you must haggle to get a good price.
The village of Turunc is lovely and only a boat taxi ride away, costs 750 lira each way.
If you are looking for a beach holiday Icmeler is not the place to go.
The best place to eat is the Love Boat, a little more expensive but the meals are fantastic and the service is excellent.
Overall the Palm Gardens is a nice place to go just outside of the main streets so they get no passing trade, it is iterally just for the guests.

Booked Palm Gardens as a last minute hol through First Choice....

Arrived at 4amish (as many people do in Turkey) and the staff were very friendly and carried our bags to our rooms. Did try to sell us a 'welcomepack' but weren't pushy. The apartment was very clean and had everything you would need for a stay. We booked a week and ate one breakfast at the hotel, it was well cooked and well priced.
The rep was courteous, knowledgeable and the excursions were well worth the money, not the cheapest on the market but better quality and good value.
Had a thoroughly pleasurable stay, would go back.
The only critiscism is that the hotel does not like taking cards so any extras I would advise paying in cash. The aircon is extra (£30/week) but well worth it as the temp was averaging 40 degrees. The location is great, over looking the mountainside and quite spectacular in a morning, great to jump of the dolmac (the local bus!) just around the corner at 'Elvis Bar' who incidentally do lovely cocktails.
You can easily choose to have a fairly quiet holiday in Icmeler or be in a more lively spot in Marmaris (15 mins/2 Lira) away.
