6 adults, four of the 6 have been going to turkey for 17 yrs mainly ichmeler.
we booked our holiday through thomas cook, they wanted £190 for transfers,i got private taxi for 6 for £94 have always had private transfer they are very genuine, always waiting outside for your arival and departure.
we arrived at the julian forrest on 7/9/2012.we were aware of thewasps!! best thing about the hotel are the rooms very spacious and clean.
went for breakfast on the morning of the 7th yes the wasps were out and about, the majority of people took their breakfast to their room.some mornings we did some we didnt, yes they burn the coffee if you ask for a soucer full doesnt really work and its off puting while you eating your food.
the wasps were out all day yes not as many by 12pm although my wife got stung 4 times all in the afternoon.the food isnt as good as some have said, certainly not as good as spain,i found it boring, alot of it was just warm.the entertainment was poor, good thing the bus is only 100yds away.they did play some good music during the day.
some go on about certain people bar guy, maid,i didnt see anyone going out of their way to help or even serve you alot of staff all not doing much.
we never had a probem obtaining a sun bed only saw a guy getting the wasps out of the pool on one day.
reception very helpful and always polite and smiling it was a change because as you leave reception and go to the bar no one offers you a smile.
what they do not tell you is,you get your pool towels from reception so no need to take any, thus reducing your weight allowance,in the afternoon (after lunch) you can order food if your all inclusive.
would i stay here again...the party of 6 were in our early 50s and 60s its a smallish complex and was suitable for us as we only really came for the break we are not site seers, although we did venture into marmaris/ichmeler nearly every day/evening.i would not of stayed at this hotel had i been able to get into the ones i usually stay at in icmeler.so the room was great, the food just ok,the evening entertainment well below par,
YES I WOULD STAY AGAIN BUT ONLY IF I COULD NOT GET INTO THE HOTELS IN ICMELER.
FOR YOU TOP FOOD AND TOP ENTERTAINMENT YOU MUST EAT AT THE MAJESTIC ON CANAL ST THE TOP GUY THEIR BEING JAN,IV KNOWN HIM FOR 15 YRS TOP TOP GUY!!!!
jeff

WASPs and more wasps, at no point during daylight hours were there not wasps.!!! Having said that everything else about this hotel was great. From arriving in the middle of the night and checking in with no fuss and shown to our room, until leaving after using a well looked after courtesy room, we were impressed. The rooms(suites) were very clean lots of space, balconies fridge and kettle etc. All communal spaces very clean, Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a battle with wasps as was lunch, both adequate however the evening meals were possibly the best quality we have encountered in many years of all inclusive, the only critisism is that the choices were too English, having said that I understand chef must play to his audience and the quality of meals and variety more than made up for this. The bar was what you expect and joy of joys schweppes tonic and plenty of ice. lovely.

Room Tip: Very peaceful location so all rooms apparently quiet,

We stayed at the Julian Forest Suites from 12th-19th September and had a really great time in a really great hotel. The hotel is located at the very end of Icemelar at the end of the valley just before the mountains make a very steep decent. It is a very peaceful location. Much better than most of the hotels in town with their swimming pools yards from busy roads or noisy bars.
The room we stayed in was 4210 (top floor) and looked out over the 2 pools with the slides and beyond to the most beautiful view of one of the mountains. Our balcony was completely private and not overlooked by any other. The stars at night were a real treat. The room was clean and very spacious and cleaned daily. The reviews below about not changing sheets or towels didn't ring true in our experience. We had some lovely touches with the blanket folded into shapes and even flowers on the bed one morning. The rooms were amply equipped with fridge, kettle and a TV that showed every football match you can think of (Sky, ESPN, Setanta), and a very welcoming air-conditioning system.
The staff at reception were very kind and helpful people and would bust a gut to sort out any enquiry.
Sinan (not sure of spelling) was a really nice bloke and very friendly, he ran the therapy rooms and Turkish bath downstairs and unlike the guys on the stalls and shops in town never gave us the hard sell. Yes, the Turkish bath was more expensive than in town but hey, I thought it was amazing. "Those girls have magic hands" one guest described and I concur.
The pool area was very nice always clean and there were plenty of sunbeds to go around and very good sunbeds they were too. The pool was lovely, it has been described as cold in another review but for me that was just what I needed after baking on the side for a while. There were lots of inflatables to float about on.
The eating/bar area was welcoming and again always clean and full of hard working, friendly staff who made every effort to make it an enjoyable experience. Others have commented on the hard work and long days the staff have and they are true. The lads do work for their pay. The other reviews that state that these people were unhelpful and unfriendly or indeed lecherous is not what we found at all and seem very harsh. I found if you were nice and friendly to them then they would be in return. Those that treated them like second class people were given what they deserved as far as I'm concerned. The work ethic and helpfulness is 10 times what we get in England. The food was always very, very good, be it breakfast, dinner or tea. Even as veggies we had enough choice. The carnivores had heaps of choice. It was cooked by some very talented chefs who seemed to take great pride in their work particularly the mezzines which were delicious as was the sun ripened fruit (puts the rubbish we buy in Tesco etc to shame) There was also the burger/pizza/chips/beans, if that's your thing.
There was always plenty of food and served at enough times to suit every need. Water was available at all times as were soft and alcoholic drinks (I don't think I will drink Fanta/Sprite again for some time to come!).
Right, I must mention the buzzy things. I found that the majority of them were honey bees apart from one morning when there were more wasps. They were very docile things and a gentle wave of the hand would be enough to make them go away. If you have a phobia or allergy it may not be your cuppa. People were stung, my wife 3 times but there was help on hand immediately even a call to the doctor was offered as she reacted quite badly to the stings but it didn't spoil the holiday for her. There was a child stung but the cool reaction of his parents meant he did not feel scared of them after and he soon got over it. Those that have written that "they should do something about the bees/wasps" don't seem to have put any decent proposal as to what can be done. The name Julian "Forest" should give an indication that there may be creatures about. The bees were hard at work producing pine and eucalyptus honey. As for the review that states it would be closed if in England is just crazy. Should the majority of Scotland be closed down to holiday makers because of the midges? America because of much more scary, bigger animals (bears/wild cats etc)? Or Australia because of poisonous snakes/spiders? Of course not.
The entertainment could certainly be better. The shows were good but very short and your man needs to come up with something else than caaaaaaaash binnngoooo every night. It did get a bit tiresome saying "no" to it, I found this more annoying than the buzzy things. I do know that he had an uphill struggle to get people involved but that was down to there being nothing else on offer. And it really isn't my thing. Sanchez was a star though.
All in all we had a very good week at this lovely hotel in the most amazing surroundings. Not only were the staff very nice and friendly the majority of fellow guests were all really good people, everybody seemed to have time for everybody else to sit and chat and have a laugh. This made it extra special (you know who you are).
Icemeler is a bustling little town and the Dolmus (bus) can be found just outside the hotel. As Julian Forest is at the end of the line there are always 2 or 3 sitting waiting to take you, once the drivers can drag themselves from under the shade of the olive tree! They cost pence or you can walk in 10 mins. The walk takes you past olive and orange groves and through he old village.
We went with Thomas Cook and Denise their rep was very knowledgeable of the area and very helpful. Transfers are quite long but not too bad. we were allowed to keep using our all inclusive after checking out as we had a few hours to kill between check out and bus arriving.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I don't think we will return but this is only because we like new experiences. If I was to stay in Icemeler again, I would definitely go back here.

Room Tip: Our room 4210 (top floor, west side) was quiet and well located for hill views and peace and quiet.

Where to start with the good things about this hotel.....? From the moment we stepped into the reception area and met "smiler" aka Deniz, to leaving as he shook our hands and said Gule sheruz, we had a great time here. The rooms, we were on the fourth floor, were spacious and exceptionally clean, mountain views were excellent, I couldn't think of a better view. The pool was easily big enough for the amount of people that were here when we were, maybe a little cold but then that might have been due to the location of the hotel, quite close to the mountain. The restaurant/food was served as a buffet style and was fantastic. Turkish quality cuisine, but as much as you could eat if that is what you want to do. Salads, soups, meat dishes, rice, English dishes(if that's your thing) and deserts. Although we were all inclusive we did feel the need to go to icmiler on the odd evening because the in house entertainment was.????? Not sure what to say about the entertainment. Apart from it needs to get better, quickly.
On to the wasps. Yes there are lots of them and yes people were stung, including a small child. I wouldn't have taken a small child knowing that wasps were a problem. There are 2 water slides for the children to play on, there is also ice cream time between 2.30& 4.30, this is also snack time, if you miss dinner. The entertainment seems to stop around midnight which isn't too bad, considering the entertainment on offer and the size of the hotel, in relation to the room been close to the entertainer. There is Efes beer and vodka based drinks in the all inclusive. The staff do seem a little overworked and the hotel could really do with a couple of extra staff just to allow the staff here to get involved with the entertainment, which in turn would make it better, I think.
Midnight soup is strange, but nice. All in all, very good, would be so much better without the wasps, and better entertainment.

Room Tip: High rooms seem quieter and have better views of the mountains and stars.

We have just returned from Julian Forest Suites after a 2 week stay which we both thoroughly enjoyed. To start off with I would just like to say to any prospective travellers, please ignore the miserable and incorrect reviews below!

When we arrived we were allocated a room with a mountain view, not the best I admit but still not terrible. However the rooms more than make up for it with a living area, bedroom, and a decent sized bathroom. There is also tea and coffee facilities in the room too which was a nice touch. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the maid left us lovely patterns on our bed! Oh and the air conditioning is lovely and cold too!

The pool area is great too with comfy sunbeds and free towels each day. The hotel also has a collection of lillos you are free to use too. The whole pool area was jet washed at the end of everyday, and any dead wasps removed.

The restaurant/bar area is set outdoors, so unfortunately you do have some extra dinner guests (wasps), which is not the hotels fault at all. They try they're hardest to get rid and are going change this for next year too. The food was the best food I have had from a European all inclusive, was always hot and checked by the chefs constantly. Even the staff piled their plates when we had finished so they must be doing something right!

On the entertainment front Sanchez did his best with games during the day, and trying to get people involved. Yeah it isn't broadway but who expects amazing entertainment on holiday anyway? The cringeworthy silly games are standard anywhere!

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, and would go back there myself too. ALL the staff were lovely, helpful and not at all leary (if you thought that was leary do not go to Egypt, Morocco or Tunisia!!)
