“Brilliant holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2008

Just come back yesterday (25th August) from a two week holiday in Turkey and had the best time ever.
We arrived at the hotel at 1.30am after a 2 hour transfer from Dalaman Airport was very tired!
We were checked in very quickly and shown to our room straight away. The room in its self is very small and basic but at the end of the day if you want 5* luxury you pay for it. Me and my girlfriend paid £800 for 2 weeks BB so we really couldn't complain. BARGAIN!!
The rooms were cleaned every day and were always spotless. The first morning we got woken up at 5.30am by the mosque going off as we were unaware of what it was. We got use to it and never heard it again for the rest of the holiday. To make you aware you do have to pay for air con and a safety deposit box. The pool area is very clean and has a slide for the children or if your anything like me a big kid then you will love it. All the staff that work around the pool are so friendly and they like to have a good time always entertaining you.
You are able to exchange your money across the road from the hotel in the little supermarket that gives you a better rate than the hotel.
The hotel is situated 10 mins from the beach and is in a perfect location. The beach is pebbled and gets very very hot the sea was always crystal clear and you are able to see all the fish swimming round your toes. Every morning we were looked after by our bell boy Indie he was lovely and always had our beds ready for us in a morning. The beds were 5lira for two.
There are so many lovely places to eat especially on the canal but the restaurant that stood out for us was Majestic the food was gorgeous and the entertainment brilliant and the staff were great. Other great places to eat are Linikers bar on the sea front and we were well looked after everyday by Taner, Venice bar and Love boat (a bit more expensive).
Overall excellent holiday, excellent weather and excellent people. We will be going back next year if we can.

  • Liked — How clean the rooms were kept and also the great entertainment staff
  • Disliked — Having to pay for air con

This was our 3rd vist to Turkey, We had never stayed in icemeler before but were really happy to be there. Fantastic scenery and location. The hotel rooms were quite small and if you had a pool veiw could be a little noisy if the bar is used late at night. We had a room facing the mountains and appart from the call to prayer each morning at 5am it was quiet. The hotel staff were really nice and helpful, pool service was very good and you did not have to move if you did not want to. The hotel was on one of the quieter streets but well within reach of the main streets with lots of bars with all types of food. The beach is not the best with dark sandy gravel but again the beach service is really good, some arae's are free some cost a couple of pounds each for sunbeds etc...There is a nice footpath walk to Marmaris it's about 6km some of the veiws are really nice from there. We had an island boat trip for the day, we payed £12 each that was for all inclusive which turned out to be a bargin ( depending on how much you drink ) because you can go for £6 each but you have to pay for everthing and the drinks can open to what the staff want to charge. We went on the 23rd May for a week and the temperature was around 34-38 so be careful because it was very hot, it did get cooler at night though and was great to have a stroll round, People were a little pushy trying to get you into the bars but we were told that there are not so many people coming this year probably due to whats happening in the markets with everything so expensive at home. I have only ever been to Olu Deniz before but would certainly come here again. Hotel recomended for all ages.

Hotel location in Icmeler excellent. Pool very good. Rooms quite small and very worn and shabby. This hotel is well past its sell by date.
The bathroom ceiling consisted of metal slats whereby you could see the lumps of rubble sat on top of them, also you could see all the waste pipes and plumbing from the bathroom above. The sink had no plug, the hairdryer located adjacent to the sink had no screws in the handle and was held together with cellotape.
The floor tiles in the bedroom did not go wall to wall and was roughly filled in at the edges. The furnature was very worn and tired looking. The maids worked hard to try and make a silk purse out of a sows ear, the sheets on the bed were clean although some days threadbear with holes in. The spare pillow in the wardrobe was not fit to put a dog on.
On four occasions over the two week holiday we were without cold water, so the toilets could not be flushed.
As there are no fire doors at the end of each corridor and the staircase is open plan, all the noises from guests coming in late can be heard throughout the hotel.
The bar staff and waiters on the first week of our holiday were excellent and could not do enough to try and make us comfortable.
The second week all the staff was replaced and thing seriously went down hill.
Not all tables were set with cutlery at breakfast, one morning there was no orange juice, no tea, no bowls, no spoons and no bread. I approached a member of the staff and asked for bowls as there was now at least six guests waiting, he brought two bowls out of the kitchen. I then approached the manager and asked him to go into the dining room and jolly the staff along. This situation did not improve at all throughout the second week, constantly having to ask for things to be brought out to the buffet The last three days of our holiday the stained table cloths were not replaced.
Breakfast was typically Turkish, limited ,Eggs, meats cheeses. No fruit at all no toaster provided.
We rented a safety deposit box at the start of the holiday, and throughout the two weeks we were offered by the reception staff on several occasions the master key on when collecting our room key from reception. One evening when going to use our deposit box we found approx eight guests at the deposit boxes and was given the deposit boxes master key by a guest and no member of the hotel staff was present.
This hotel should never be advertised as 3 star.

we stayed at the selen apartments this may.4 adults 2 rooms.we were put in the attic rooms which was a bit of a trek up the stairs past the very loose stair railings.the rooms were clean but a bit dated {border on the wall} and the ceilings were very slanted.I was ok being 5ft1 but my friends partner at 6ft could have done with a crash helmet! having said that the rooms were cleaned every day and clean sheets every other day plus we got clean towels when we asked for them. The rooms looked over the crazy golf course {when its finished} but the position of these apartments is wonderful,5 minuted walk past the canal to beach, three minutes to tansas supermarket and bus stops to marmaris.the supermarket underneath these apartments gave the best exchange rate we came across in two weeks consistently. the travellers rest is about 100 metres away and does the best fish and chips ever! on the right hand side of the canal going towards the beach is the Kerem restaurant.what a find!the best turkish food ever!try the gozlemi {turkish meat and potato pancakes} and dont leave this until your last night trust you will regret it if you do we ate there 4 times.so all in all we had a great holiday and will be booking the selen apartments again next may e ven though we have stayed in 4 star, hotels the position of this one was the best
