“Loved The Marti”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2008

Arrived at midnight and dropped our cases off in our lovely rooms.
We headed 2 minutes into town and the noise was deafening. Lots of very lively bars. Thought we had landed in a mini Marmaris and was not impressed .

Then the next day we really appreciated how beautiful both the hotel and scenery were. We originally booked Half Board and after paying for 3 cokes and a Beer for £12 decided it would be more cost effective to upgrade to All Inclusive. This cost another £100 per person per week. This was well worth it as the food was lovely and the kids could help themselves to all the soft drinks and Ice cream they could handle making our holiday much more relaxing.

We decided to do this as the price of restaurants outside were not as cheap as we were told they would be.

Rooms : The rooms were very spacious and very very clean. We were in a standard room and once we upgraded to All inclusive our mini bar was emptied and just water left ..which i thought was a little harsh. But towels, sheets cleaned on a daily basis without fail.

Air Con : Its not rocket Science to keep the air con on all day all you had to do was take the key off the fob and leave the fob stuck in the wall to keep air con on all day.

Food : plenty of choice for breakfast , lunch and dinner.
Seabass and Seabream available each day along with Chicken, Veal and Turkey. Some Brits were complaining about no bacon but don't forget this is a Muslim country.

Hotel. Hotel is lovely and the oriental bar is a great place to chill out in the evening if the entertainment is in the amphitheartre.
Hotel is spotless and the pools very clean. Pools are very cold first thing and although they have a few they are all quite deep for younger children. ( there is a very small babies pool)
The obligatory up at 8.00am to put your towels out on the sunbeds I am afraid.

Entertainment : lots of pool games and organised events during the day by the hard working animation team..Temel, Onur and Sedat to name a few really do their best to keep you entertained.

Evening entertainment is "ok" they do try hard to please all nationalities.

Definitely visit a Turkish bath and go to the mud bath/Turtle beach trip to Dalyan. And men try a Turkish shave well worth it for £2.50.

All in all a very relaxing holiday for us as we chilled out in the lovely hotel for most of the time. The Turkish people are the friendliest people I have meet while traveling abroad.

The only downside for us is that there was nowhere to eat and chill out in the evening as 99.9% of restaurants turned into "fun pubs" around 22.00. Hence why we chilled out mostly in the hotel in the evening.

If you want it even livelier go into Mamaris.

The hotel maid it for us . If we had been in a dump I think my review may be a little different

just returned from a weeks stay at the marti resort and i wish i had stayed longer, the hotel is fab the grounds are beautiful and the food is lovley the weather was great will definitley be going back, would advise to stay al inclusive as the drinks are a bit expensive. there are two large swimming pools that are never over croweded, the beach is right outside of the hotel. location is great a stroll away from shops you can get a water taxi to marmaris if you like, icmeler is a lovley place, when i read other reviews i was a bit worried about going but i needed of been everything was great and there was plenty of fresh food to choose from. the views are beautiful

I and my friend have just returned from a week in the above resort and just wonder how on earth Marti Resort has earned a 5 star rating (which I quote as being as defined by holidays in general and some of the qualities they define I have underlined). Having paid almost £1,700 for the one week holiday we were amazed when shown to our so call superior room. Basic would have been the word for it, bed, 12" TV, (SSV means to them side sea view, if you hung out over the balcony by someone holding your legs), when we were lead to blv from the web site that it was a superior sea view room. Basic bed, terrible furnishing, basic bathroom and nothing like even the standard room that is advertised on Marti Resort website, even though we looked for a superior room. I went to close the curtain and it fell down. , so we demanded a better room and got it but seemed to be marked people after that for the week in the resort! That is a lesson that all and I mean all the staff in the resort could learn or at least be given the opportunity to go on a course for, first of all to listen to their guests and respond to their legitimate complaints (we are not the type to complain just for the sake of it). We managed to change our room after speaking with our rep (who in fact was the only person who was willing to listen or help us when we arrived, which by the way was 6am on 29th of July so what happened our 7 nights (that question for Olympic Holidays)??

There was never enough beds around the pool it was a scramble to find one or meant getting up at most people seemed to do at some ungodly hour to put a towel down on a bed and mark your space for the day. The sunbeds were dirty, and no efforts from what I could see to clean them at the end of the day when people were finished with them. Brollies for shade were few and far between and for people who don’t wish to bake in the midday sun of 40 degrees, they should be freely available and easy to move, instead they were imbedded in a concrete block that no one could move!! The pool area was noisy, crowded and with constant loud music, not ideal for trying to relax which what a holiday is about yes??

On our final day, our flight was not until Aug 5th and 4am, however we had to check out on Monday 4th at 12pm, with no effort made to find us a room (despite repeated requests) to stay in or at least have the ability to leave our stuff there and have showers and a place to rest before we went to the airport, which was a full 12 hours after check out time!!. We had to ask the people in the spa to let us shower there and keep our personal belongings in a locker and they were helpful and very accommodating.

Having read a mixture of great and terrible reviews about the hotel, we had a nice time at the Marti, though there were some bad points!!
The Marti Hotel Resort is situated in a cental position of Icmeler and on the beech front with some stunning views of Icmeler, the bay and the ocean. Perfect location!
On arrival we were impressed with the appearance of the hotel. The lobby is nice and the pools and terraces look great!
Our room was not a refurbished one. It did need decoration and updating, a new bathroom and carpet being top of the list!! There is some mould on the tiles of the bathroom, but overall the room was clean.
The air con in the room was terrible and only operated when your key was in the power socket - not good if you are out all day!
Maid changed towels every day though not sure that the room was ever properly 'cleaned'.
Pool areas are nice and there are plenty of activities to do with the animation team! There is a very good atmosphere around the pool area, music playing for some of the day and a good mixture of different age groups.
One major complaint! - the poolside toilets - very smelly with urine on the floor, no toilet paper etc. They didnt seem to be cleaned too often but air freshener is definately required!!
Other toilets inside the hotel very clean and modern, with no bad smells.
Food - nice for the first 5 days but the repetitive nature of it soon gets you down! Drinks - if not A/I - very very expensive! Service is average, you wait a long time to be served!! Outdoor dining and all the wildlife that comes with it on the terrace - cats and wasps being the most annoying!
Icmeler itself is a nice resort, though is becoming a bit more expensive. plenty of bars and restuarants to choose from and would go bed and breakfast if staying again!
On arrival you are given a card to purchase drinks etc with - be careful - it is easy to spend alot and they tried to over-charge us by £50 on departure - so check you bill receipt before paying!
Overall the marti is by far the nicest hotel in icmeler both in appearance and location. It isn't five star and I think that some prices should be reduced to reflect that, but you will enjoy your stay there!

Just returned from hotel marti resort icmeler. Overall a good holiday although not a 5 star resort more like three star. Very very expensive to eat and drink in the hotel £3.00 for a glass of coke £5.00 for a small glass of wine. if you wanted to upgrade to all inclusive costs £16.00 per day ok if your a big drinker but not cost effective if your not! food for half board fine but a bit repetative however plenty of choice you could always find something to eat. Restarant staff really sullen when you consider the warm welcome outside the hotel.
We booked a family room when we arrived only given a tiny room just big enough for two people had to wait two days to be moved still only given a twin room but a little bigger. Hotel staff not very helpful but Thomas Cook rep very good.
Air conditioning, If you can call it that was very poor and very old central system and did not keep the room cool temperature 42 most days. Entertainment ok if you were 18-30. We travelled with our thirteen year old daughter who found the Majestic Bar in the resort great also the Bamboo bar next door to the hotel really good and well priced.
Airport on return journey like nothing we've experienced £7.00 for a drink and £11.00 for a Macdonalds sandwich meal.
We spent £2,800 for this holiday for two adults and one child I think this was very overpriced for what you got the hotel however is in a great spot for all the resot amenites.
Would we go back yes if we could get the holiday much cheaper.

Just come back from two weeks at the Marti Resort and have to say it wasn't too bad, not 5 star though.

I know some of the rooms are being modernised, which is fine, but some care and attention must be made to the pool areas, some of which are just crumbling away.

The food in the restaurant was ok, again, not 5 star. There was plenty choice but the food itself was pretty bland most nights. There were a couple of nights where it wasn't too bad. One of the Hotels restaurants ( The Grotto ) was very good and completely different to the food served up in the main dining area.

We decided to go Half Board, big mistake !!! The drinks are very expensive as most reviews of the place will tell you. Even just soft drinks around the pool will add up and you will be surprised at the prices. Alternatively there is a shop at the beach entrance of the hotel that sells drinks far cheaper.

As a whole we had a good holiday, very relaxing, we'll definitely be going back to Turkey but don't think it will be at the Marti.

We have just returned from a trip to the Hotel Marti in Icmeler. This was our 2nd visit as we last went there 5 years ago. We had a lovely holiday but I have to say we will not be going back again in the future as I think it has run it's course for us as Icmeler has become too commercialised.

We booked half board as we aren't really big drinkers or eaters so we didn't think we would get our monies worth. What a mistake, the cost of a round of 3 drinks one being a soft drink was about £12 so unfortunately this didn't encourage us to stay around the hotel at night which is unfortunate because it is such a lovely hotel in very nice surroundings. If you go out into town it was so much cheaper. 2 cups of tea in the pool snackbar cost me about £5!! Also we were constantly approached whilst we sunbathed by the pool by the hotel hairdresser, beauty therapists, diving school, animation team selling t-shirts and dvd's etc etc - not what you want when you are on a relaxing holiday in a 5 star hotel!

If your looking for a very relaxed holiday lazing by a quiet pool then don't choose the Marti because the music that the animation team play all day apart from about 1 hours break is really loud and annoying. I was really ready for home after 2 weeks. You then go into Icmeler and the bars are now all becomming dance bars and again all trying to compete who can have the loudest music. The people badger you to go in their restaurants / bars and this too becomes so annoying after a week especially for my 16 year old daughter who hated going passed them as they would mither her continually. Probably a great hotel for younger crowds or maybe just a week but definitly not 2 weeks .

With regards to our room - we had no complaints really as we had paid quite a lot of money for a delux suite which had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies and 3 plasma screen tv's however when we arrived there were lots of jobs unfinished as it had just been refurbished. It was quite comical that each day another piece of furniture or a picture was added to the room!! Our holiday cost us £3,700 through First Choice this was based on three adults and of course the upgrades and single supplement but we did book it 12 months in advance as we had to be away for our silver wedding anniversary and my husbands 50th birthday whereas if we had left it until last minute we could have got a cheaper deal.

  • Liked — Good layout of room
  • Disliked — unfinished work completed on the room after refurbishment
