Hotel is in a very good location, food was ok bur somtimes cold,occasionally staff wer friendly, Hotel Representative was not very nice at all tried to make me and my family look like we never stayed in a 5* hotel because we are Asian his name was Adam Drummond, this hotel is not 5* most likely 3/4* HOTEL INTERNET WAS RUBBISH COULDNT CONNECT AT ALL DURING MY 1WEEK STAY

We are currently in the hotel staying for a week (we have a 2 year old so didn't want a super hot summer break)

Pros:

The shopping locally is excellent, some great bargains to be had.
The hotel is clean and tidy, staff are pleasant and helpful.
Food is good, always a good choice although it seems a little repetitive at times.
Our room is huge, think we must have had an upgrade, balcony is great (and safe for kids) free safe, excellent shower facilities, bedding/towels changes often.
Drinks are good, service is efficient and fruit/bread all fresh.
Location is beautiful, on the seafront with views around the mountains. Just a nice stroll right to icmeler where you can shop/eat or left to marmaris where you can do the same or walk around the mariner.

Cons:
The beach isn't a beach, more like a platform leading to the sea but if you walk along to icmeler there are a few man made beaches to enjoy on the way.
The pizzeria restaurant was fully booked for 4 nights solid so we didn't have a chance to try it.
There is a charge for ice cream (near the pool area) which I disagree with being all inclusive.
The TV'S are old-fashioned (didn't use it other than to keep daughter entertained for 10 minutes).
As this hotel is rated 5* (when we booked we where told more like a 4* with the agent) some of the other holiday makers are quite snobbish and must feel more privelidged than others - nothing major just the odd tuts from the oldies when excited children where running through from the kids club. We all pay a similar price for the holiday.

Overall it continues to be a fully enjoyable hotel and location, we would return here. (Looking at coming back to Turkey around September time) I'd recommend the hotel to couples and families. After booking the hotel and then reading the reviews I wasn't looking forward to the hotel, I'd already anticipated having to pay to be moved elsewhere, but I am really happy I booked here. I would rate the hotel at just touching 4*, room for improvement but value for money.

Tips:
Bring English £10 notes as a majority, bring some lira too for ice cream, eating out and tips ect, you can change English money over here at a better rate than in England (in icmeler or marmaris not the hotel) and 90% of places give you a better deal for English money, especially clothes/shoes/excursions.
Tip your room maid early into your stay 10 lira or so (<£3 at the time of our stay) we got everything cleaned and changed and water in the fridge refilled we also tipped 10 lira at the end.
Tip the guy who brings you bags up to your room and shows you how every thing works, he was grateful and got us anything we wanted for the rest of our stay. The staff all around turkey don't get paid a lot so you will get first class service for a few quid.

extremely friendly service, near the beach. overall the perfect loacation, staff and quality were fantastic.TThe holiday was fantastic as the beach was just outside the hotel. There was also a dolphin pool which was absolutely beautiful,

We are here now in the Mares. It's the first week of April and the sun is shining, had a couple of showers.

The sea and swimming pool at the hotel are cold, so don't expect to swim unless you are ready desperate to, that said there were kids in the sea and pool today!

There are a couple of patches of sand, but not really a beach, more of a lido, which is fine, good bar and changing facilities, and so far good weather with plenty of sun.

We booked 2 weeks before departure having consulted previous reviews on trip advisor for the Mares. I can see why some people may criticise the hotel as it's definitely not 5 star! We came here expecting 3-4 star and that's what we have got.

The hotel is looking dated and could do with a refresh to get that 4 star rating. The room we are in is 2nd floor and quite large with a single and a double with a sofa, desk , really small tv that we have not bothered to switch onet......and whilst perfectly acceptable and clean, it's dated.

The food is strange, the quality of the cold food , salads, fruits etc is excellent , the hot food is a little bland and repetitive. Again just short of 4 star. The deserts seduce you , but fail to deliver. Overall though the choice is good and you will enjoy it. Drinks are fine, local beer eyes is good, soft drinks for kids, teas and coffee as well.
Ice creams seem a bit over priced 5tl for cornetto?

Walks along the coast are worth the effort, and the day trips seem reasonable. Service is excellent, all staff really helpful and attentive.

Would I come back here, yes for a cheap week in the sun, with reasonable food and accommodation.

We booked online through travelrepublic and got a Seaview room for 9 days all inclusive for 194 for two people.

I first went to this hotel in March 2013. We were the 1st people to arrive for the season, the hotel was not ready for us at all! We were allocated to our room which had an amazing view of Marmaris bay & the dolphin park. We loved our stay, so much so we booked to go back in October 2013, where we booked directly with the hotel for a 20% discount.
Our visit in October was just as enjoyable, the staff remembered us & again we had a great time.
Am now looking forward to our 3rd visit in April 2014.
Everyone has their own opinions but as a single parent, I have had nothing but an enjoyable stay at this hotel.

The worst hotel I have stayed in in Turkey. A shame, as the location is wonderful- unfortunately the food, clenliness and general upkeep of this hotel puts the company to shame.
The dining tables are never cleared, the food is always the same (and luke-warm, as though it has been left out since lunchtime). Bars constantly out of various drinks, to get a full tables worth you had to visit four different bars (One was out of Lager, one had no hot water, etc etc.)
The keycards to the rooms are absolutely useless- EVERY TIME I tried to get into my room, I had to go back down to reception to get a replacement card. More worrying, they didn't even ask for ID- just gave me a card to whatever number room I happened to mention! The air con in our room was so noisy, it was either coolness with no sleep or sleep sweating your bits off.
Would never return, the staff seemed uninterested, and obviously didn't undertake their tasks properly. NEVER AGAIN!

Awful, awful holiday. Frequently given chipped plates and glasses, dirty cutlery and tables being reset in dining hall but table cloths not changed, meaning you get other people's splodges on table. Bedding wasn't changed once during 12 day stay - hotel are trying to blame that on us having Do Not Disturb sign up, but what happened the other 9 days?! We had the awful luck of having a pair of someone else's underwear on the the roof below our balcony, along with many, many cigarette ends and bits of debris. Wifi is awful. Black between the tiles of the pool. All inclusive doesn't actually include everything - freshly squeezed OJ at breakfast for example. Staff, particularly the reception staff, can be quite rude and ignore you. My husband fell coming out the shower and the maintenance manager thought it appropriate to shout at him in Turkish rather than ask if he was ok. Paid the small amount of damage repair, yet received a "reminder" three days later under our door, had to take receipt down to prove we had paid! It's clear one hand doesn't know what the other is doing here.

It's sold by Jet2 as a four star plus and is a Turkish five star, but don't let that fool you. I've been in better three stars. Save your money and book somewhere that's worth your hard earned dosh.

Definitely don't book with Jet2 to go here - they don't want to know if you have a complaint. They are low cost holidays for a reason...
