Dont really understand why people rate this hotel so well. But it shows you standards differ from person to person...we booked this hotel based on reviews. but were very dissapointed by it.
Room was small, and bathroom was tiny...no shower tray so everywhere got wet. Sink was cracked, as was the toilet, Shower curtain was held up with an old plug chain..what was there was clean..ish..but put it this way, if there was a bath in the bathroom i wouldnt have used it..
We had an air conditioning unit that we had to pay for on arrival, BUT the air con units were on the balcony, and the unit above ours dripped water from the condenser all over our balcony all the time, so if you sat on the balcony you got splashed with water.
Although the hotel is clean in the communal areas, we did see a cockroach in our room. Squished it...yuck.
Pool is small but its ok to use. clean.
safety deposit boxes are basically not really secure as they are in the lounge..
We were half board, and the food at Dinner was terrible. there was no choice, you get what you were given and that was that. One night i dared to ask Christine what was for dinner, and i got "i dont know, and im not going in the kitchen to ask as its too hot, you go if you like" !!!!!! There was always piping hot packet soup to start, which was just what you want in a 40 degree heat isnt it? NOT! :)
The mains were small and tastless, a bit like school dinners...we ate out on 3 nights and on the 1st night got told off for not telling them we were eating out as our dinners were wasted....which was nice wasnt it?!
Suppose breakfast was ok, bread, jam, boiled eggs, sliced tomato and cucumber. tea and coffee. though we asked for milk for our son and got white coloured water...which he couldnt drink...
Everyone else at the hotel seemed to be having a good time, and it was generally friendly. The family that run the hotel are a genuinley nice bunch of people...they are chatty, and very friendly...
The hotel is in a reasonable position, 5-10 min walk to the beach through the market..and the Turkish people do not hassle you anywhere near as much as they did in the 1990's.
Ichmeler is an nice small town with enough to keep you busy for a week if you just like lounging about on the beach..
We got this hotel at a bargain price, and you can book it directly with the owners for even cheaper!!! so perhaps i shouldnt complain too much as you get what you pay for, but i certainly wouldnt go back, ever! and i really really would advise you to keep on looking, unless all your looking for is a cleanish place (cockroaches included) to rest your head that is dirt cheap with friendly staff.
