Stopped here on the drive from Phoenix to Sedona with grandma and 8 year old daughter. It is a quick stop very close to the highway and well worth the stop. All ages were impressed by the majesty of what the ancient Sinagua people accomplished. Our daughter had just finished studying Native Americans in school so she was happy to see how they lived in person.
One thing we were happy to learn about was that seniors can purchase a lifetime pass to all National Monuments for only $10. This not only gets them in, but three other adults traveling with them (kids are free).
Also, if you have kids, be sure to check out the National Parks website (or ask at whatever park or landmark you are visiting) for information on the National Parks Passport and Junior Rangers program. Both make visiting our national parks a very fun, engaging experience for kids (and the adults with them too).
