“Historical Civil War Cemetery is a great final resting place for loved ones”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

It's a very interesting cemetery to walk through. They have graves dating back to before the Revolution. In the back there are graves that until recently had very poor markers designating burial sites for Confederate soldiers.
Also, staff is very gentle and does their best to help you with burial plans for loved ones. They are very knowledgeable, kind and do their best to make recommendations that are affordable.

“Historical surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I have lived in Frederick for years and did not realize that we had this little gem in our midst. They have Francis Scott Key of course but they also have civil war tomestones and some examples of some of the more unique ways to memorialize your loved ones including a color etched headstone. Worth checking out if you have the time.

“Beautiful and Serene”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Mount Olivet Cemetery is a beautiful sprawling site excellent for a peaceful walk. With the historic significance of housing the remains of Francis Scott Key the writer of our National Anthem it is well worth a visit if you enjoy the peaceful serenity of a facility dedicated to housing the remains of the departed.

The grounds are extensive with many of the avenues tree covered it is a pleasant place to stroll even in the heat of the summer.

It is on the very south end of historic Frederick so it is a bit of a walk to the restaurant district but parking is never a problem.

“Francis Scott Key, Barbara Fritchie, and a cast of thousands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Along the fence driving to the right is a sad row of Conferate soldiers buried during the Civil War. Traditional Cemetary with every variety of marker and stone. Main entrance has a computerized list of burials and plot locations. Good for genealogists.

“Star-spangled cemetery.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Large, neat cemetery with numerous civil war graves. Several other interesting graves, but the real purpose of the visit is the splendid memorial to and grave of Francis Scott Key (composer of the National anthem of the USA).
