“Francis Scott Key, Barbara Fritchie, and a cast of thousands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Along the fence driving to the right is a sad row of Conferate soldiers buried during the Civil War. Traditional Cemetary with every variety of marker and stone. Main entrance has a computerized list of burials and plot locations. Good for genealogists.

“Star-spangled cemetery.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Large, neat cemetery with numerous civil war graves. Several other interesting graves, but the real purpose of the visit is the splendid memorial to and grave of Francis Scott Key (composer of the National anthem of the USA).

“historic cemetery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Mount Olivet Cemetery contains the grave and monument of Francis Scott Key, the writer of the National Anthem. The Francis Scott Key grave is located at the entrance of the cemetery with parking located nearby at the office. Be sure to not overlook the remainder of the cemetery. It also contains the graves of Barbara Fritchie and also the first governor of Maryland. Along the back side of the cemetery there is a section of graves of confederates killed in the Civil War. On the day that we visited they were cleaning up from trees that were damaged when hurricane Sandy went through.

“A Large place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

The grounds were maintained. The place is very large, almost like a small town. The masaleums and chapel are very nice. Everything was very neat. We attended a service and the crew was very efficient.
