This is a good place to drop in for a quick soup, sushi, and hot sake. Try the "crunch roll" - that's one of their best. The specialty spider roll, dragon roll, and even simple rainbow roll (tuna, salmon, avocado) are all good.

This is the place for a nice sushi fix in the Frederick area; Patrick and his fellow sushi professionals whip out fabulous creations with the freshest components. This can be a nice finish to a good movie at the Regal Cinema complex next door. In our latest visit we had some of our favs, including spider roll (soft shell crab), dragon roll (eel), and rainbow roll (mix of tuna, salmon, and avocado coating the rice). Start with a nice miso soup and sesame-miso dressing salad while they prepare the food. Other items on the chalk board are somewhat unusual combinations involving jalapenos, cream cheese, etc. that are better avoided. We do like the crunch roll and I enjoy the extra quail egg on top of any of the roe items.

There are a few other sushi places in Frederick but unless you are satisfied by gummy, cold, and old supermarket-style prepackaged stuff or overpriced food and poor service (two other places in Frederick), I recommend this place!

Matsutake also has lots of tables with hibachi grills for the tableside cooking and "show" - fun to do once, especially if you have younger kids, but not quite a Benihana!
