“Just Right!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012 via mobile

The atmosphere is on the edge of being beautiful. The bright colored maps on the wall in my opinion should look aged to go with the rest of the decor. We were welcomed and seated immediately and given salsa and chips to tide us over while we waited for our order. We ordered the Carne Asada which was just the right portion size. We also ordered a shrimp and steak meal which was excellently spiced. The fried plantains were also excellent. We ordered flan and coffee for dessert and were disappointed that the mugs were plastic. But the coffee was good. Overall we very much enjoyed our meal and will definitely return. I highly recommend Santa Rosa because the portion sizes are reasonable as is the price.

“Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012 via mobile

My husband is from El Salvador and the food we had was excellent. Its difficult to find good food at a reasonable price like this, if you're looking for a good meal for a family this is it!

“Authentic, delicious, our go-to spot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

One of the best kept secrets in all of Frederick! We take all our out of towner friends here, and have yet to have a bad meal. I've noticed that there has been a surge on Friday and Saturday nights, but even still, service is always good and food always hot. Food is moderately priced, fresh, and full of flavor. The margaritas are equally delicious, as well as other staples, like the chips/salsa/guacamole, and my favorite, the skirt steak.

“Delicious, authentic food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

Every dish is delicious, they recently moved into a larger, nicer space in the same plaza with booths and a bar. This is the best authentic Salvadoran and Mexican food I've had. And the staff is super pleasant and most have been working there for years. They work hard to make sure you're happy.

“Fast Fresh food and Friendly Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012 via mobile

First of all, we like Cacique downtown for a night out (and we don't understand the popularity of La Paz at all). And we liked El Paso before they closed though it was too big and too slow.
We have been regulars at Santa Rosa since their previous smaller location behind Famous Dave's on The Mile. Their current location is double the size with a warmer atmosphere and the same good food. We generally pick up/drop off dry cleaning at Zips during the week and stop in Santa Rosa for midweek dinner.
Youll be greeted and seated quickly and served hot tortillas and salsa to enjoy gratis while you read the menu. We usually have iced tea but Ive had the margaritas and they as good.

The salvadoran selections are savory and well seasoned, the more familiar Mexican food is fresh. On a chilly night, I highly recommend one of the soups. You'll receive a huge bowl of broth and large cuts of meat and vegetables to warm your soul. Although we've had many items on the menu, we seem to return to the simple tacos Al Pastor (three soft flour shells with crispy lettuce, onions and grilled smoky chunks of pork with garlicky cilantro sauce, refried beans and rice $8.99). the chicken or beef tacos are good, too.
Don't miss the plantains- so good!
