We stumbled upon this place while traveling. It is in the charming historic area of Frederick, and the place was crowded on a Friday night. We had to wait a few minutes for a table. When seated, we noticed that the couple next to our table was very upset. Turns out they were not being served while others who came in later were. The waiter did not apologize to them at all - our first tip that the place was perhaps sub-par. Then our waiter came by, and he was very nice. However, he placed bread and margarine at our table. Our second tip-off - the bread was horrible - obviously the cheapest store-bought "Italian" bread. And to give us margarine to put on it in an Italian restaurant! Where was the olive oil? Certainly, butter would have been acceptable. I've always thought that if a restaurant can't be bothered with serving decent bread and butter (olive oil for a real Italian restaurant), then the rest of the food is probably not so great.
We ordered spaghetti & meatballs and eggplant parmigiana - fairly basic fare. The food was okay, but nothing special at all. My husband did not like the spaghetti at all, and he is not a picky eater. The eggplant was pretty good, though, oddly, the peel was left on.
We could not figure out why there were people eating there. Surely there are better restaurants in the lovely town. It may be called an Italian restaurant, and the waiters were all male Italians, but no one there really knows how to cook authentic Italian food.
Well, we'll never go there again, and I'd like to warn others to stay away. Mediocre food and experience. Save your money.
