“Get your feet wet.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

Worth a long drive to see it. Tide stays low for a few hours (at least when we went), so relax. Go at least 1 hour before low tide ready to wade a little if you want to see the extra most spectacular bits of it. Once down the one staircase to the beach go right as the tide comes up first that way then work left (west). The best arches are far to the right and you may have to wade round the rocks to see them. If you are only there at high tide then walk along the cliff edge right (east) and you’ll see the best part from above.

great place when the tides out, the rock formations and caves covered in small mussels are well worth seeing.

“Breathtaking Absolutely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

Catch the low tide and the Cathedral will reveal itself. It is one of the most breath-taking natural attraction I've seen. the beach itself is gorgeous, just the view on top of the rocks of the Atlantic will make one feel dizzy with pleasure. Take some steps down onto the beach, you'll find yourself surrounded by large slate formations. If the tide's a bit aggressive, you'll have to take off your shoes and socks to walk over some rocks to get to the "cathedral" side. You can also get there through caves. Spent time there singing out loud, running around the large pillars of slates, or simply soak in the sun. Enjoy while it lasts, because when the tide rises, all would be submerged.

“Coast Road from Ribadeo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011

The "Ruta de la Costa" that runs from the town of Ribadeo to the playa de Las Catedrales is an absolute must for anybody visiting eastern Galicia or western Asturias.

The road, which is little more than a track in places, hugs the coastline for about 10 miles and gives access to this stunning part of unspoiled Spain. There are several empty beaches that can easily be reached on foot and coastline footpaths from which the views are amazing.

Although most visitors aim for the Playa de las Catedrales, don't miss this part of the coast which leads to the delightful town of Ribadeo.

“Magnificent Cliff Arches”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2010

The beach is located near to the town of Ribadeo, in the province of Lugo, Galicia.
It has been declared a Natural Monument.
The location is known for its natural arches and caves. These can be seen only in low tide. During low tide you can appreciate the size and magnificence of the cliffs – The arches are formed first from small cracks in the rock onto the bigger caves where the roof has collapsed, due to the erosion of the waves. It is advisable to be back before the water starts to cover the beach again, which occurs very quickly.
