I'm lucky enough to have a very good taqueria close to my home, so perhaps my standards for Mexican food (or at least Cal-Tex) are too high. In any case, I was not overly impressed by Lola's Kitchen. The food was good, don't get me wrong, but no better than what you get at a myriad of Mexican restaurants/taquerias in California.
I had the chilaquiles with beef. They were pretty good and the meat was nicely seasoned, but I found the green sauce too sour. My husband had a burrito, which he liked. My daughters, unfortunately, did not fare as well. One ordered a chicken quesadilla, but was unhappy to find that the stewed chicken was quite spicy and the cheese was a dark yellow type she wasn't used to. For some reason my other girl didn't like her rice and beans, but the oldest thought they were OK.
Service by the owner's granddaughters was friendly. I really wish I liked this place more.
