4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

close to a small road but hidden from it and very calm. Nice albeit small pool with beautiful setting. Good restaurant and friendly staff. Access to the sa riera beach is walking distance but not too close so a bit long with a baby car for example. Room was small and a bit expensive as a "superior" standard. Quiet and peaceful.

This is an old monastery located in one the most beautiful spots of the Mediterranean. It is far from noisy roads, nature all around and you will be on the beach in no time.
I was not super impressed on the location of the restaurant, they should use the pool terrace.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife and 17 year old daughter. It was a last minute break as we had picked up some cheap flights to Gerona.
The hotel is a long taxi ride from the airport (90E) but the hotel was worth it. As the name suggests the hotel is fashioned out of an old convent, the Nuns cells being converted to rooms. We stayed in room number 1 which we were told was a superior room. The room would have been fine for two people but was a little tight for 3. The bathroom was quite small but adequate for our short stay.
The setting is the most impressive part, the grounds are really lovely, the pool area and gardens especially.
The breakfasts were fantastic, all you need to set you up for the day and the terrace setting has commanding views over the wooded hills, stunning.
We also had dinner twice in the restaurant, the food was very good as was the service.
A very pleasant stay in beautiful surroundings. All the staff very very friendly and helpfull.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view and you will overlook the hillside not the road.

What a lovely place to stay and what lovely people work there! We stayed 3 nights in room 16 which is in a quiet spot. Breakfast on the terrace each morning, clean tables and napkins, excellent service with a smile. Lounge by the pool, stroll in the gardens, walk to Sa Riera beach through the woods and eat in Begur at night. The staff are superb, helpful and freindly without being overly intrusive, even the cleaners greet you with a hello and a smile! Raquel on reception is a gem and could not do enough for us ( I read a review by Alice?? which is completely at odds with our experience ). We have already booked 3 nights in 2013.
Fortunately at the time we were there, very few families with children were staying!!

Room Tip: For a quiet room choose those nearest the pool, we have booked the junior suite in the garden for 20...

Finding places like this is rare. The care with the details, the wonderful views and the atmosphere both at the hotel and the restaurant, the service and extreme attention to details make this place one of those you want to come back to.

The hotel is visually stunning and the setting is tranquil and relaxing. We stayed in a standard room, which we found too small. An upgrade would be recommended, as we felt the room did not compliment the properties elegance. Our room was above the reception area which was quite noisy. I would recommend to stay further down in the hotel and ask for a room which over looks the pool area. I recommend walking the grounds as they are stunning. The breakfast is very good with plenty of options. The staff are helpful and friendly. We had to checkout before breakfast and they still provided us with juice and pastries, a lovely touch. The property is a 10 - 15 minute walk to the Sa Riera beach and a 5 minute drive into Begur. You will need a car. Ideal for a romantic get away.

Room Tip: Upgrade from a standard room and ask for room overlooking pool area.

On a recent trip to Begur, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon El Convent while looking for a place to stay. After a quick trip to the property, we called the next morning and made a reservation. What a fantastic decision! The hotel is beautifully designed with understated elegance. We stayed in a moderately sized room with a king bed and a window opening to the front courtyard. The pool area was lovely but a bit too chilly to enjoy. At the suggestion of the front desk, we took a walk down to the beach at se riera (?). So beautifully maintained like all the beaches in the area. Although we opted for dinner in Sa Tuna, breakfast at the hotel was lovely. My only complaint about the hotel...families with very young children staying there. The hotel's peaceful environment should not be shattered by the screams of kids and babies. I can only imagine what that would have been like at the small pool. It would seem like this place should make a choice to cater to couples/adults in the future.
