“What everyone else says!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

It's pretty much just as everyone else says. Lovely hotel that's more of a guest house, more like staying in Joan and Clara's home. Lots of kissing on arriving and checking out. Has to be the best breakfast ever .. wedges of fresh pineapple, chocolate cake, apple cake, tortilla, fresh OJ, great coffee .. and all the usual bread based bizzo and cereals. Our only issue was the noise on one evening from child that was in the room above .. he had some sort of wheeled toy that he rolled across the tiled floor. Noise was astonishing. Joan quickly had a word with them though and the noise stopped. So my only reason for mentioning this is that if you experience something similar speak to Clara or Joan and they are quick to sort it out. We dined in on two nights ... separate review. Food was delicious .. rustic and hearty. And don't miss the recuit for dessert.

Super clean. Heaps of hot water. Light and airy room. Very comfy bed. Rainwater shower head but shower cap provided.

Stayed for 2 nights and lived the whole urban chic vintage theme that Clara and her team have added to this beautiful building.
Just 10 rooms and lots of quirky extras like a fully stocked fridge with full bar and honesty tabs, expresso machine and vintage shop stocked with old posters, radios etc made this a different experience. A kettle in the room would have been nice but it would have ruined the vintage thing going on!
Flamenco night was great fun, packed with locals, good food and great music. Sorry we can't do vinyl night on Friday but I think we'll be back for more.....

Love and warmth radiate from every corner of this charming old colonial hotel.Church bells can be heard from all the rooms. Eclectically furnished, crisp almost air dried sheets cover the beds .Kirsten is so helpful for local knowledge. Clara and Jean do a magnificent job turning this small hotel into your home away from home
Lovely breakfast served in a cozy sunroom. You become part of their family as you see their 13year old study for finals!
We cannot say enough good about our experience, we did not eat in the restaurant--our mistake, but it was packed every night and people seemed very happy.
Begur is a magical little town, and this sweet loving hotel makes it a perfect place to spend many perfect nights. We did not want to go........

We had a lovely couple of days at the Aiguaclara Hotel with friends. Clara and Joan are such welcoming hosts and couldn't have been more helpful giving us lots of information on the area and lovely walks. The hotel is a beautiful old building and has been very quirkily furnished, we felt at home straight away. We would just like to suggest that tea and coffee should be complimentary or facilities should be provided in each room. Also if you sleep lightly avoid the rooms on the church side as the bells chime all night.Overall a lovely place in a beautiful town.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the church side if a light sleeper.

We enjoyed very much our one week stay in May at hotel Aiguaclara. The hotel is located in a charming colonial house which was built in the 19-th century by returning villagers who had made a fortune in central America or Cuba. (Some villagers however returned with empty suitcases, some of which can be found in the collection at the hotel). Our room was in fact a romantic suite of two rooms with high ceilings and visible beams on the top floor. It didn´t matter that there was no elevator since it was easy to climb the beautiful staircase (which figures in a book we found in the hotel library on the colonial houses in Begur). Breakfasts were relaxing and tasteful. What makes Aiguaclara so special is its friendly personal attitude and its good atmosphere which makes you feel at home far away from home. Clara, Kirsten and Joan are always ready to assist you and advise on which places to visit in Catalonia. Begur itself is a very beautiful village close to beaches. A place to which you would like to return.

This charming and eclectic hotel in Begur was a delight. Housed in a converted 1869 residence, it is one of a kind. After the scenic drive up the coast from Barcelona, we were warmly welcomed by owners Clara and Joan (Juan) and made to feel like family. They and Kirsten were most helpful with all kinds of advice. Our room was spacious and comfortable; breakfast each morning was wonderful with even a copy of the International Herald Tribune to look forward to. We understand that the Hotel dining room is very highly regarded; unfortunately it was not open during our stay, but will provide incentive to return. Begur itself is full of interest and has some nice restaurants. The town is a good base for exploring by car the many delights of the Costa Brava, with its beautiful coves and sinuous mountain roads. We enjoyed visiting Girona and Cadaques and many other spots in beautiful Catalonia. We visited in May which seemed perfect before the hotter summer weather. Can't wait to return to the unique Aiquaclara and its delightful hosts.

The owners of this wonderful hotel welcome you as old friends. Their warmth is clearly evident in their care of guests and the attention to detail; from the warm and interesting interiors, to the meals. The location is fabulous, the ambiance wonderful. You couldn't ask for more!
