“Very special hotel in the unforgettable medieval town Peratallada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

My wife and I stayed at this charming hotel in amazing Peratallada from 18th to 19th of July 2012. We had a double room (room no 1) which was beautiful decorated (see my photos). The bathroom was clean with proper shower room size and they provided nice toiletries. There was AC and a refrigerator filled up with beers, water and soft drinks.

The man at the front desk was an outstanding host that does anything for you to feel comfortable. He shows us the room at arrival (we could chose between two available rooms!) and told us everything about the hotel and this very special medieval town.

The breakfast was delicious with lovely fresh bread and was served at the table by the staff (see my picture of the food).

There is a free parking area just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. There is also a free wifi connection at the hotel with OK capacity – and it works at the room!

The Hotel has a great location in the centre of Peratallada.

Amazing Peratallada is really worth a visit and I will definitely recommend this hotel to you!!

Best Regards

Svein-Magne Tunli from Bergen, Norway.

This hotel has a delightful setting, charming decor and friendly hosts. We enjoyed the restaurant and found the staff very helpful. We'd happily return.

I stayed here for a romantic break with my girlfriend and we weren't disappointed! The room was very stylish and large. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful.

The building itself is very picturesque with the restaurant split into two, one half in the glass-ceilinged central courtyard and the other hidden away in a cosy and ambient area. The food was delicious with a big selection, most of which we tried, and the typical Catalan breakfast was fantastic.

Service was great and the manager Jose was very helpful, answering all our questions about the local area.

We had such a great time I can't recommend this place enough!

Hotel El Cau del Papibou is located within the walls of the charming medieval town of Peratallada. Quite apart from its very convenient location for visiting the region, the magical setting of the town in itself commends this Hotel as a choice for visitors to the area. Our room was clean and comfortable and the restaurant is also worth a visit serving a well priced range of tasty tapas dishes. Breakfasts were plentiful with tasty catalan tomato bread, pastries, cheese, fruits, fresh orange juice, tea and coffee on offer.

Although there was no wireless internet access from our room (we understand that they are working on this) there was excellent access from the main reception area which is furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. However, the highlight of the Hotel is undoubtedly the service and attention provided by Jose and Fausto. They were extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you both for everything and for making us feel so welcome.

El Cau del Papibou will soon be known solely as Papibou. Papibou means tadpole, but is only used in perhaps 7 surrounding towns in the area. Jose and his partners have run the restaurant for many years and have recently purchase the hotel which was part and parcel of the the restaurant. The hotel itself, or at least our room, was small and basic but between Peratallada, Jose, and the restaurant within the experience was wonderful. The restaurant has a room down to the left which has the remains of a 12th century well and oven and the ambiance is bested only by the tapas that comes fast and furious to your table. As for Jose, what can I say? We were tired and hungry from cycling and frustrated by poor directions and Jose turned us around in seconds. He even played some music for us, Adele, that we loved. What can I say. Paribou is on a street between the two placas, on your right. Don't miss it.

You will be thrilled with your stay at El Cau de Papibou. Its setting in the disarmingly gorgeous village of Peratallada is perfect. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The attentive service is provided with a genuine smile.
