“good food, crabby waiters sometimes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

We meet friends there for dinner periodically. The food is good. but the waiters are often rather surly and not very pleasant. It has happened more than once. too bad. they need some training in how to be pleasant to the customers.

the last time the waiter pressured us to order ( place wasn't busy) and then when he arrived with the food he basically just dumped it on the table anywhere and in a hurried fashion, as though it was our fault that there wasn't clear space for everything. .

“Right next to the commuter rail station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

The appetizers far exceed the main courses, so treat yourself from the beginning of the menu. Delicious dumplings (peking ravioli) in huge portions. Avoid the chow fun (too cooked noodles), and make sure to ask for at least medium spicy for the meat and fish dishes. Good white rice, but less flavorful fried rice then you would expect. Quick service and nice hot tea.

“A excellent place for lunch and dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

The food is very good. The menu includes low-fat and calorie controlled items. The egg drop soup is excellent. The staff is friendly and efficient. If you go there more than once, the staff remembers who you are and what are your preferences. The luncheon buffet is much better than the standard reheated and overcooked items. There is a lot of seating (186 seats) so you don't feel cramped or crowded. With the extra space, you are not bothered as much if there are rambunctious children or crying babies seated near you. The prices are affordable. We've never had a bad meal at Chang An.

“Acceptable, but that's it!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

I went for a lunch buffet. It was a bit over $11 for all you could eat. There were dumplings, other appetizers such as crab rangoon, and a variety of meat and vegetable dishes. One was fish. There were also four desserts from which to choose. Much of food is fried. Some of it is quite tasty. However, dishes that should have been crispy were soggy from sitting in the steam trays. The restaurant is noisy, but if you sit near a corner acceptably so. What bothered me most was having a rather rude server break into the line of people waiting to chose their food with refill dishes that she just carelessly dumped into the pans. When I arrived at 12:15, half of the pans were already empty, so she was back and forth several times before I sat down to eat. If you like soggy Chinese food, this place is acceptable. More than that would be an exaggeration.
