We could not do an online booking via trip advisor so decided to turn up unannounced and try to get a room for 1 night. Fortunately a deluxe room on the 3rd floor was available for 80 euros a night (excluding breakfast). The room was very spacious and well furnished and the rural view from the balcony was beautiful but, of course, the downside is lugging bags up the stairs! After the huffing and puffing with bags we decided to reward ourselves by relaxing in the beautifully furnished lounge with a glass of excellent red wine and some nice olive and pickled onion nibbles. Dinner followed a bit later with some more excellent red wines and some beautifully prepared entres and mains.
The owner's English was pretty basic (about the same proficiency as my Spanish!) but she managed to ensure our stay went smoothly.
Wifi was good in the ground floor lounge but not so good in our 3rd floor room. If arriving by car, you may find it pretty difficult to locate Candela y Plata - our GPS could only get us to a nearby plaza then we proceeded on foot with the assistance of a very entertaining old local. Turns out the establishment has an excellent gated car park area up behind the building, which we were able to use once we had learnt the layout of the local streets (best done on foot!).
