This is a lovely wee hotel - not fancy but clean and central with decent sized rooms and great breakfasts. So, overall good value, I think. The owners, Rosario and Alfredo (and all their staff) are so friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Most speak great English too. We were made very welcome and got great recommendations for eating, drinking and day trips. The rooms on Reception level have a balcony.

Cudillero is a beautiful, buzzing, working fishing village - make sure you take a walk out to the port to watch the day's catch being unloaded. The boats come in one by one between 5 and 8pm and there's a bar on the quayside full of locals keen to see the haul. The natural amphitheatre of the village gives great views if you climb up among the narrow streets.

Be aware that there isn't any parking at the hotel - you just drop off your bags and then park the car on the harbourside, a short stroll away. We loved the Casona de Pio and hope to return.

This hotel is located in the center of the small fishing village of Cudillero. The staff was very helpful and there were nice little touches in everything they did. The building is an old fish processing plant that has been converted into a hotel. Some of the fixtures and decor are a bit dated, but everything is clean an functional. I loved that they give you a small loofah in the bath and delicious local style foods at breakfast. I don't think the rooms have A/C, but we didn't need it as it stayed cool in August. The windows are modern, but the seagulls were quite raucous in the mornings. You can drive your car to about 100 meters from the hotel to drop off your bags, but then you have to park in the municipal free parking area. There are a lot of stairs to get to the reception and again to the rooms. I don't think the staff spoke English, but they were very patient with our halting Spanish.

We needed a stopover driving from Bilbao to Santiago and so glad we picked Cudillero. It's a picturesque fishing village with small houses hugging the steep hills. This hotel is cute and homely and really close to the harbour where you have to park. Steep steps to reception no problem for us but you need to know. Beautifully appointed rooms - we had a little balcony. The breakfast - 7 euros per person was great and really worth it. Freshly made pastries and bread and hot food cooked to order.

We stayed at La Casona on a one night stopover in this very quaint small historic isolated fishing village.
Hotel (which is ideally located) was perfect for our needs although we didn't have breakfast which I note other reviews say is very good.
Surrounded by steep hills all around and an equally steep and challenging walk above the village overlooking the walled harbour, and its numerous bars and restaurants made this a most enjoyable experience.
A group of locals sitting on the deck of a local bar and singing added to our enjoyment.
Parking in peak periods could be a challenge but in June was not a problem.
Was definitely worth the travel deviation to stay in this village
