“Inventive and generous food, brillient!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Found on the old road out of Durcal, heading towards Granada, this really does produce some excellent food.

We booked for Sunday lunch, just as well as all the outside tables were full, and continued to be so throughout the afternoon.

We tried the tempura langoustine with tempura vegetables, perfect batter, this is a chef who knows what he is doing! Also the grilled monk fish on skewers came with a silky garlic butter sauce, and a Moroccan influenced salad - all great, and generous portions, as was the tapas we had with our stater drinks.

Try the baked cheese cake, to die for!

And if you are on a budget, or very hungry, go for one of their burgers, it would easily feed a family.

If you are in the area, go - bare in mind that it is closed Monday and Tuesday.

“Distinctive dishes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The restaurant is located to one side of the bridge leading in to Durcal from the Cozvijar road and near the iron bridge. Menu del Dia is about 16 Euros for 3 courses but there is a choice and the quality and presentation of the food is excellent, combining good local produce in imaginative ways often with a fusion of cuisines. We were there recently when the first course was a duck salad followed by a wrap containing a tasty filling of meat, falafel, spices and onion. Pud was also delicious and not bought in which tends to be the case in most restaurants in the area. Staff are very friendly though no English is spoken. There is an outside area with an overhead screen, otherwise there is seating inside.

The only criticism we have is that there appears to be no notice of opening times. Twice we tried to go for an evening meal and found the place to be closed, only to pass by later and see it was actually quite busy but obviously had a later opening time than most restaurants nearby.
Similarly we are never quite sure when it is open for lunch.

“El Puente - a real gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

One of the few restaurants in the Lecrin Valley to understand and rejoice in local produce and use them in imaginative and innovative ways. The cuisine is basically mediterranean but globally influenced, with eastern and african touches. The typical menu del dia might start with a beautifully dressed salad bursting with ingredients from a local huerto, followed perhaps by filo pastry rolls stuffed with moroccan spiced chicken and finishing off with the most delicious home made chocolate brownie. The service is personal and friendly and the summer setting, shaded by walnut trees, is just lovely.

“The best restaurant in the Lecrin Valley (Granada)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Mario, the Madrid trained chef, and Gloria blend delicious fresh ingredients, olive oil and wine, much obtained from in and around Gloria's home village north of Granada, to create delicious and exciting dishes. The cuisine is primarily Mediterranean, but Mario experiments with subtle touches of the far east. We live in the area and eat there frequently.
