“Amazing food, hospitality, service, home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

Just back from my second trip to Hotel California, I am already looking forward to my next visit! The place is nice and cosy, very comfortable and felt almost instantly at home by the warmest of all welcome by Dirk and Tracy. The rooms are very clean, en-suite with an individual balcony with sea view. It also has WiFi connectivity throughout the hotel including rooms. The food is amazing with a menu to choose from and with a very well stocked bar, we were absolutely pampered.

Dirk is an excellent Paragliding guide and will try 110% to get you flying, anywhere and anytime, in a safe environment and Tracy will make sure that there is a delicious Tapas waiting when you come back tired from flying! This is a paraglider's paradise!! Even for non-flyers, the hotel offers a very family environment with a fantastic accommodation.

Thanks again Dirk and Tracy for looking after us and look forward to be pampered again soon next year!

This is my 12th trip in twelve years. Small friendly hotel, excellent service (Always), totally professional. A must visit.

If you are a paraglider pilot, Dirk will guide you to the hill and having you flying safely. Upon completion of an excellent days flying, Tracy will have TAPAS waiting on the bar in what can only be described as "A friendly and homely atmosphere".

Sat on the balcony with the sun shining down, sea views and sipping a cold one after a great day in the air is truly amazing and something I look forward to all year.

The whole experience is not to be missed.

A great place to stay in a very friendly hotel. Dirk and Tracy are great hosts. Dirk is proberbly the best and safest paragliding guide and instructor in Spain. My second visit was even better than the first, I shall keep returning every year whilst dirk and Tracy are here... Thanks again

A legendary venue for paragliders as co-owner Dirk is a top flying guide, this is also a great place for diving or other aquatic sports. Outstanding service, outstanding food, great bar, great owners. We will be back for more!

The Hotel California is located on the Costa Tropical, and there are beaches all around, and snorkeling/scuba diving options nearby. The owners, Tracy and Dirk, are very personable and generous in their recommendations and help planning your day. Dirk conducts parasailing trips, and so some of their hotel guests are their to use his guide services. This hotel is really for anyone wanting to have a visit to the southern coast of Spain, away from the highrises and overdeveloped touristy areas of the Spanish coastline. Almunecar is a smaller town with mostly Spanish travellers, and would appeal to travelers who like more immersion in the culture of the countries they visit. Tracy and Dirk really make this hotel special--it's as though you've reached an oasis in the desert. They are a pleasure to talk to.
The hotel decor is moorish-influenced, bohemian, with rich colors. The bar-lounge and patio are open to the air and very cozy for spending leisurely siesta time with the hosts. Breakfasts are very good, and a good price.
