“A fantastic place to stay with children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2010

This was my third time at El Jatib, and I would suggest it to anyone who wants an unusual yet comfortable hotel stay. You can take a room in the newer part of the hotel, one of which has a ladder up to a star-gazer (el paraiso), or you can stay in a real cave house, which we did this visit. The girls (aged 10 and 12) loved the little cave house, the restaurant's playroom with tunnels and a slide, and the new outdoor pool. I love the Hannan bath, a relaxing experience, which has an optional massage available as well. The staff is friendly, efficient and laid-back. Owner Eloi has put together a fabulous concept.

“Very pleasant cave hotel, with excellent tea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2010

We spent only one night in Al Jatib due to bad weather. We had a weekend all-inclusive package for 98 Euros, full board, parking, hammam, massage and friendly staff and atmosphere all included.
We really enjoyed to stay there. The hammam was very pleasant as the manager only allows a certain number of guests per slot. The food was good and defenitely try out their differents teas, they are marvelous.
If you want to cater for yourself you can do it easily as the caves are equipped with a full kitchen, including oven, fridge, microwace, washer and dryer.
Go there for a pleasant family holiday, your children will love it.

“They also have a hamman (turkish bathes) in caves for day visitors”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2010

A little known or publicised treasure. I've been a few times during the past 4 years and it's great! Located about 5 minutes drive from the Murcia - Granada motorway just on the edge to Baza. You can phone and pre-book one of the 2 hour slots. During the day it's not at all busy and you could have the place to yourself. They have a limit of 12 persons per session.
Apart from nice changing areas, there is a shower room which leads to either the chamber with a really hot water pool and steam or a chamber with an almost freezing water pool. You alternate as you wish between the two, taking a shower between each chamber. There is an outside lounge area if you fancy a break. An hour of this and you should feel cleaner and refreshed - it's a great experience and possibily a unique one too. Grab a drink from the bar and sit outside (in the sun, hopefully) before heading off.
Cost per person in Sept 2009 €12

“Out of the way gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2009

Stayed here a couple of summers ago. Would thoroughly recommend it. We stayed in Cave 6 which is off the main site (approx 5 mins walk) it is the oldest and most rustic of the caves and belongs to the owners father. Large spacious cave. When we were there the temp was approx 40' and it was nice and cool inside. The main bar and restaurant are basic with good (huge) portions of moroccon style food eg tangines. Breakfast very basic but was ok. Children loved sleeping in a cave and adored the play caves. There is a supermarket about 10 mins drive away if you want to self cater and the town of Baza has all the usual shops amenities. When we were there there was no pool which was a shame as it was so hot although I believe one should open this summer. We stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting the Alhambra en route to friends in La Herradura on the coast. It takes approx 1 hour to Granada and a little more tot he Sierra Nevadas. The coast is around 2 hrs. A lovely spot for a bit of down time but very quiet. Not the place to go if you are looking for nightlife or kids clubs etc. We would definitely return if in the area again.
