“Nice view”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

I had reserved a room with balcony and views, which really was nice. However, there is no aircondition and the room gets really hot in the afternoon so don't expect to sleep much until you get accustomed to the heat. The biggest disappointment for me was that they did not provide internet connection in the room as promised in the hotel description.
The service was ok, and I think the staff had a lot of loyal local customers in their bar and restaurant, but even if I speak good spanish, I never got that "good feeling" with the staff. I spent time every evening on the sidewalk where you could relax and get a beer and internet connection.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view and balcony is to the south-west, so they are warm in the evening.

In confirming my reservation, Mari Carmen assured me that I had a "habitacion con vistas," as I had requested a room on an upper floor with a view. What I got instead was a tiny, tiny room at street level with a "view" of nothing. Room number 103, to be exact. This room is something you would expect to be reserved for an employee. The TV was on a platform mounted to the wall. It was so high up that it would be impossible to actually view the TV.

I was looking forward to lying by the pool for a bit of afternoon sun after my hikes, but unfortunately the pool was dirty and there were no chairs or chaises poolside.

On a positive note the overall appearance of the hotel is fine, and the staff of the family run property are all cordial enough.

Room Tip: Suppose it would all come down to the room you get. Room 103 is probably not the one you want.

We stayed at Apartamentos Rurales Poqueira, which are a set of apartments owned by this hotel. We booked off booking.com, where there we no reviews but we decided to take a chance on it. The apartments were great value, especially if you stay as a couple. Location is great, beautiful views from the balcony and good kitchen, bathroom and heating facilities. With the fireplace it was all very cozy.

The service unfortunately wasn't great, the owners seem much more focused on their hotel and restaurant. We felt we were bothering them when we enquired about anything. Hot water took a while to warm up and the apartments are in need of a bit of a makeover. Overall, a really cozy and good value apartment which could be an excellent apartment with a bit of attention to detail and improved service.

Me and my wife stayed there 2 nights as part of a walking break. the rooms are clean, the hot water and heating are more than adequate, very friendly and helpful hosts. This rural hotel is right by the bus stop. good prices and good food.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a balcony

Close to the bus stop. Easy access to hiking trails, shops, and restaurants. Beautiful location and views. Good value for the low cost. Hearty food.

We decided to visit Las Alpujarras in Andalucia and the Lonely Planet guide book recommended this hotel.

The hotel is right next to the bus stop that runs to and from Granada. It is part of a lovely traditional bar with a large dining room (comedor). There are many bedrooms available in the hotel.

Our room was clean and pretty with a nice balcony. There wasn't much a view from the balcony as it was surrounded by walnut trees (which dropped their delicious nuts onto the balcony!). However, the trees provided some welcome relief from the heat. We didn't mind not having a view as we got to admire the hills on various walks which start in the town.

We stayed here for 5 nights at 35 Euros/night - an absolute bargain. Breakfast is not included but we ate every morning in the attached bar (cafe con leche and tostadas for only 2 Euros!)

The town of Capieira is absolutely stunning with typical white houses clinging to the sides of the cliffs.

  • Liked — The location
  • Disliked — The trees could do with a trim!
