“Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta - Galleria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2012

I love the Doubletree, it's the best stay, close to downtown and near shopping, resturants, the Chattahoochee River and trails, movies, you name it the location is great. The hotel, when you check in they give you the most delicious cookies you've ever tasted. The resturant is great the steaks and the service top notch. If you like the night life you can even go down for coctail hours you won't feel alone! The beds are like a little piece of heaven, with medium size pillows that say sleep on them. You feel like your at home except in your own little castle. When you decide its time to sleep, slip into the jazzcui tub that can fit 4 comfortably, and forget the cares of the world. Slip out and enjoy a glass of your favorite bedtime beverage from room service, weather it be wine, juice, or warm milk they have it. You can even request for a late check out if your running a little behind, they want to make you happy. That's why its called the Doubletree Guest Suites. Weather it's an overnite stay with you and your someone special or a stop and stay before you board your plane tomorrow for your honeymoon, or a weekend stay away from it all. I give this 4 stars! Well worth the visit, and you will be back. I have, time and time again. Don't leave behind your cookies!!!!

Room Tip: Always pick a non smoking room, And if your staying on a Sunday, you might enjoy the champagne brunc...

Check-in was easy. Nice apartment style rooms. Large 2 queen bed suite. Fireplace had instant burning log already included. Walk in shower. Did not have breakfast there. Great room for $99/nt.

PROS:
-Convenient to Cumberland mall
-Complimentary shuttle service
-Warm cookies
-Large suites
-Good breakfast buffet
-Free parking

CONS:
-Loud Atrium; During the day the noise from the lobby carries to the rooms, even on the 3rd floor.
-Slow elevators. We always had to wait a while. One of the 2 elevators seemed to be having mechanical problems.
-My biggest problem: Upon check-in, one of the staff members took a phone call from a guest while checking in another guest. She was argumentative with the guest on the phone. When she hung up, she proceeded to talk poorly about the guest to our party and the party she was helping. The guest then came down to talk to her in person and she was equally rude to him in front of everyone there. This was unprofessional and not the 1st impression you would ever want your guests to have.
-We requested an early check-in (which is not guaranteed). Regular check-in time is 3pm. Our room wasn't ready until 4:30.

Although I was not pleased with my first impression of the front desk staff and the late check-in, the room did make up for it. The room is very large, clean, and comfortable. I'm not sure that we would stay here again, though.

Stayed here 1 night in March. The hotel is nice but pretty old. All the furnishings etc were very good and the bed was really comfortable. Only knock is if you have an interior room with a balcony to the atrium, it can be loud when there is a large group having breakfast or at the bar late at night. The location is great, right off interstate, close to the mall and near some good retaurants.

Room Tip: get an outside facing room for less noise.

we went in a group to ATL for a hip hop festival that was being held near downtown atlanta...we drove out from dallas, so we chose to stay away from downtown, but the hotel was great. it's in a prime location, a few minutes from the highway and in walking distance of several places to eat.

as usual, we got this at a steal off priceline, but even at the average rate per night, it's still a good deal.

we stayed 3 nights, got fresh towels daily...it was 4 to the one room, double queen beds.

beds were comfy

check in was a breeze

rooms were clean

air conditioner worked

we didn't get a chance to eat breakfast at the hotel, but i'm sure it was decent

staff was friendly

and we got free cookies! (free is good....cookies weren't all that..lol)

and to make our trip even better...the same weekend we stayed, there was a "s & m" conference going on! it was for an older crowd (40's and up) but it was entertaining to see all the older hot women dressed in freaky clothes ever time we went through the lobby. i like knowing the hotel can get "dirty" lol

the only complaint that we had was there wasn't free wifi in the room, you had to go to the business center in order to use it, which wasn't that big of a deal, but it wasn't that convenient.

we had a great trip, and would stay here again!

We stayed at this Doubletree with a large group. Although we booked as a group we were scattered all ove the hotel. The day we arrived there were 2 people managing the desk and they were as efficient as possible. The King sized bed room we stayed in was roomy. There was a wet bar with coffee maker and a very small fridge. It was more of a cube then a fridge, but it held a half gallon of milk and other small items. I left the bottled drinks in my cooler and iced them down every day. The coffee maker is tiny as well, but it produced coffee, I recommend the Duncan Donuts on the street in front of the hotel, for real coffee.
The room we stayed in could use a new celing as it was peeling at the edges and the wood on the window looked to be rotting away. I did not try to open the window. But the couch was comfortable, and there were ample chairs in the room. The couch pulled out into a bed and was comfortable.
Others in our party had a double bed room and I was told there was no space in that room, nor did they have a fridge.
The complimentary cookies were good, and I had no problem asking and receiving them when asked.
There was a dinner option on the Friday night when we arrived, it was fried chicken, mashed potatos and vegtables, along with a small salad bar. It was good, although no servers ever came up to us to offer water, we got up and got that ourselves. Saturday night there was no dinner, I heard later that something in the kitchen was being repaired. The shuttle to the mall was quick but the driver is a foreigner and was not very talkative or forth coming with information. But we got out of him how to call back and get a return ride to the hotel.
All in all I would recommend this hotel for it's location, it is easy to get to the mall where there are plenty of food options. I also recommend the King sized bedroom as there is ample space for a family of 4.

Room Tip: Go with the King sized bedroom

This place is wonderful for mixing business and pleasure. The hotel is centrally located near great shopping and excellent dining. The staff is amazingly friendly and went the extra step to make our stay wonderful.

Room Tip: I got the room facing the interior but would choose the exterior next time as the staff start early...
