“Beautiful hotel, outdoor pool is lacking style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

I was traveling with a young woman not accustomed to travel in nice hotels and she was blown away. It was fun to see her reaction. This hotel has the old-school atrium design that is horrible for energy efficiency but it does look cool! The room was very nice. The beds were excellent, pillow top mattresses with high quality linens. Very nicely appointed bathroom with four star polish. This will certainly satisfy the business traveler who is used to four star or very nice three and a half star accommodations.

The outdoor pool leaves something to be desired. Some imaginative landscaping would go a long way,but it seems like the hotel just gave up after dragging a few lawn chairs outside. The indoor pool is nice. You can see the runway from the pool.

At the last minute I needed a hotel due to a cancelled flight. Let's just say "it had been a long day" and I was cranky. Schlepping suitcase, briefcase and a bad attitude I was lucky to reserve this room minutes before arriving. It was a great experience - I was put in a room at the far end of the hallway in the corner (this is one of those hotels that has a central open courtyard with bar and restaurant on the ground floor and the rooms surround it like one big Guggenheim Museum floor plan), I ordered room service and used the business center - all in a span of 8 hours before my 6am flight the next day. The staff was very good - front desk, operator for the wake up call, the room service staff, etc. I'd definitely stay here again if I needed to be close to the airport.

Room Tip: The floor plan of the hotel could potentially make some rooms noisy but I didn't have a problem...

The balconies of the south-facing rooms at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel are just about as close as you can get to ATL's runways without being on a plane. It's an aviation fan's dream. And oh yeah, the hotel isn't too bad either.
The hotel straddles the north runways at the world's busiest airport, providing incredible views of all the takeoff and landing action, and the sprawling ATL terminal complex and aircraft maintenance hangars. They even put chairs out on the balconies so that you can sit and enjoy the view.
The Renaissance itself is quite a nice place, with a big, soaring atrium lobby that's airy and inviting. The staff is very pleasant, from the airport shuttle van drivers to the check-in staff to the restaurant/bar staff and so on. Check-in was quick.
My room (2 queen beds) was spacious and clean. It had the requisite flat-screen TV and generic earth-tone color scheme. The work desk and lounging furniture were more than fine. The bathroom was also large and well-equipped with Aveda bath products.
The hotel is generally quite nice, but a little worn around the edges. The carpeting in the hallways is somewhat tired, and the walls and furniture in my room had a few knicks and dings. Also, the shower was rather dated looking. But these are minor gripes. The bed was very comfy, and the mini-fridge was a nice plus.
Again, the views of the airfield were spectacular. I spent at least two hours sitting on the balcony. However, if you are noise sensitive, you'll want a room on the other side of the hotel. Soundproof windows can only do so much when you're this close to the runway - when the big jets land and kick on the thrust reversers, you're going to hear it -- over and over again.
The area around the Atlanta airport offers very little in terms of dining options or anything interesting, so you're somewhat captive to the hotel's restaurant and room service. Prices are predictably high, but the quality of the food was rather good.
The shuttle to the airport runs every 20 minutes, and the drivers will drop you off close to the airport MARTA station if you want to take the train into the city.

Room Tip: If you like to watch the planes, ask for a south-facing room. If you like quiet, north-facing.

I booked this hotel on Priceline getting a good deal (52usd+tax). I spent only one night at this property, and I have to say that for the price I got I cannot complain. The hotel feature a big lobby, ugly carpets, and standard 3.5 stars rooms. Nothing memorable but nothing bad either.
The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport, and if you drive it's around 10 minutes from the rental car center. The hotel features a restaurant and a bar but I cannot comment on the food quality. A fitness center and a pool are also at guests' disposal.
If you can, grab an airport view room: the hotel is right at the edge of it, and if you like airplanes you won't be disappointed by the view!

Came for a 2 day meeting. It is an older property that has been refurbished, the job was done well. Bathrooms were clean... A big one in my book! I was placed in an airport view room... Planes kept me awake... Cool to see! The food provided by the group was great. Staff was polite and helpful.

The room had a couple of burn marks on the rug and a stain on the drapes. The humidity in the room after a shower may have caused the staining.

The radio popped on at 6:30am on Saturday am... Can only imagine the cleaning staff listens while they work and when turning it off pushed the button to alarm.

If you like planes...this is the hotel to stay at, with a free shuttle too!

We stayed two nights for Labor Day Weekend to attend a Braves game and the NASCAR race. I enjoyed it very much. The hotel was beautiful. (The interior looks much better than the exterior.) The room was very clean and comfortable. The common areas were very nice and they have a wonderful helpful staff. I will follow-up other reviews noting that I specifically requested a runway view room, which I loved because I very much enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the planes takeoff and land right in front of me. They do have very heavy soundproof doors, and it filters out 'most' of the air traffic sound, but not all of it. But it did not stop me from sleeping comfortably. We would stay here again.

I was flying out of Atlanta the next day, so decided to get a room here.....close to the airport. It was a good decision. The shuttle was free and timely. The room was everything one would expect from a Renaissance property. Just walking around the Hotel was an experience. Reminded me of the Opry Hotel in Nashville. We also ate at the Hotel restaurant and it was very good as well.
