“Great location for a reasonable price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

The hotel wasn't the worst I have stayed in, but it definitely wasn't the best. It is in a great location, within walking distance of many establishments in Atlanta, for a reasonable price. The only issue I had was that the walls were extremely thin. I heard my neighbors television all night long and I heard every single person who walked down the hall and passed my room door. I did run into the franchise owner and he was super nice! I think if I had an issue and brought it to his attention he would have resolved it ASAP.

This wasn't the best review I have received... and definitely... not the worst.

You are correct that if a guest plays their Television too loud it does "penetrate"..
the walls...and yes... you are correct...now that you let me know...
I am put a "restrictor" on that volume... which should have already been in place.

As for those "noisy" guests walking by your room which kept your "puppy" on alert...
and you were concerned...that you might be causing your own "disturbance"..
please know... there were no complaints...
but yes...
we should have made sure...
we gave you one of our corner rooms...so that you all could have rested.

Next time... if....if you come back...
let me know...you are coming... gdvelis@innatthepeachtrees.com
and...
I have two rooms...that are in a really quite part of the building on the first floor...
that you will like a lot... they are huge rooms and so private.

Thanks

Just two days before it began, I decided to attend Dragon Con, the huge cult convention in Atlanta, for work.

Naturally, the hotels associated with Dragon Con -- including the Hilton Atlanta, the Hyatt and the Marriott -- were all long sold out. However, the Best Western had rooms available ... at reasonable rates ... and seemingly nearby. This, ironically, worried me.

But I had nothing to fear! The hotel is just a couple of blocks from MARTA (Civic Center station), and a 10-minute (if that) walk from the Dragon Con hotels. You get what you pay for, but my room -- while somewhat worn -- was clean enough, as well as quiet and comfortable. I only ate the breakfast one day -- it is definitely a nice breakfast, and it contains proteins, which is rare in a free hotefood situation. It was a little heavy (i.e., greasy) for me, but I'm a light eater.

Overall, I'd recommend the Best Western as an inexpensive and proximate overflow option for Dragon Con. I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures, but the photos here on Tripadvisor from fellow travelers are accurate, I'd say.

You are a rather interesting reviewer... I read all of the OTHER reviews and you intrigue me.

I would love to know... what it is... you do...that takes you crisscrossing...the USA.

AND you stay at so all kinds of brands...Hilton Garden Inn...Holiday Inn...
the Empire hotel in New York...and while...
you are "no lackey" to W hotels... you and they seem to appreciate each other.

And yet...at each property you say...and use such really nice words...
always positive... and while you shared "you don't trust reviews that are all positive"..
when..
you find something amiss...as happened at the Trump International...
you showed great character with these words... at least we had "great air and great view".

Anyway...thanks for staying with us at our Best Western...
and...just FYI... we always run full for this event...a year out in advance..
and...then.. three days...out...
people cancel out of ours...and move closer to the host hotels...
we then... "scramble"... to refill ...and thank goodness we sell out at the last minute.
Don't like that scenario...but...it ends up okay.

Anyway...as you stated in your review at the Holiday Inn Evanston, Wyoming...
about Janet...
allow me to return the words... your review was lovely..."so LOVELY"

My family stayed here this past weekend for the DragonCon convention. This hotel is a great location to the host hotels while also letting you get away from the crowd and the noise. We were greeted warmly by the staff who quickly checked us in and answered our questions. They seemed genuinely concerned about making our stay a comfortable one. The room was clean and comfortable and had a small refrigerator as well as a safe. The bathroom had a step in shower with no tub. I don't know if this is standard, so you might ask if a tub is required. The room is not spacious, but there was enough room for our luggage, and other items brought. There were plenty of outlets for our technology. There is an overflow for parking but is adjacent to the hotel. The noise level is very quiet. I didn't hear traffic or other guests unless they slammed their door. The breakfast was really good. It consisted of hot choices such as eggs, grits, hash browns, and sausage. You could also make your own waffle or choose cold cereal. Check out was easy and again the staff was very nice. I would recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure.

Room Tip: I have stayed here before and have stayed on the first floor and the third floor. Both rooms were qu...

SO...this is your... third visit to our hotel...wow...that is really great.. so thank you.

And this is my third experience.. with those that come to Atlanta for Dragon Con.

I must share with you... that while I am..."classified"... as conservative....
in everything I do....and my wife Virginia always encourages...
me to leave my comfort zone...
I really find the people who come to Atlanta for this yearly "gathering"...
to be not only creative...and fascinating....but also...
rather remarkably polite.

Which to me... makes me want to be less conservative... and have more fun.

Thanks for your really nice comments.

Our stay at this property was a last-minute decision, and overall we were happy with our stay. A major plus for us is that they are pet-friendly, as we were travelling with our dog. The staff was nice and accommodated a late check out. Even though we had a ground level room with an exterior door, it still felt private due to a "garden wall" covered with plants that separate the door from the street. The room has obviously been renovated with nice decor and a wonderfully large stand-in shower. My main complaint is about the bed, which was hard and not very comfortable to lay on.

When I travel... I bring my personal home pillows with me... my wife Virginia does not.

At this Best Western we had only hard pillows... my wife loves them...
and a lot of our guest do too... but a lot of guests don't....didn't.

SO...on that item... I went and purchased two softer pillows...for every room
and placed those in the closet... so "issue" resolved...everyone is happy.

As for the beds...well it's true...
we have hard beds... and a lot of our guests...me too... love them...
just like our previous reviewer..."Great Place to Stay"
"beds were so comfortable I did not miss sleeping in my own bed".

I read your other reviews and I know that bed comfort is a concern...
it is for me too...when I travel and get a soft cushy bed mattress.

I know that the "simple" solution is to get...
those beds where you can...dial/select the level of firmness...
but frankly...
we don't have the money to change every bed in the hotel....
at least not at this juncture being open only 24 months...
but...
if we are blessed to continue to keep our occupancy high...
over the next year... then when we do replace bedding...
and depending on costs.... those beds will be selected...so everyone is happy.

Thanks for "picking us" last minute... glad you brought your dog...
and I enjoyed reading about your horseback riding adventure in Aruba...
my wife and I and avid horse riders... and glad you and J...
had a really good time...with your horses...Bamba and Blanca

Where to begin? The staff have southern hospitality down to a science to make your stay a wonderful experience. From check in to daily living to check out.....they are there for you. Daily I got directions on where to find what I needed when walking. We had a vehicle also and traveled around the Atlanta area. They had parking in the hotel garage and some slots across the street in a garage. My friend had 2 small dogs and they had rooms set aside for people with pets. So, those who wish not to have pets in there rooms are protected. Breakfast was outstanding. It is a full meal deal and no one should walk away hungry. Beds were so comfortable that I did not miss sleeping in my own bed. Rooms were kept clean daily by housekeeping. I will stay here anytime I come to Atlanta.

Love Best Western hotels...love dogs and love a really good burger. You're a perfect guest.

Okay...so perhaps I am biased....
because you touched on all the things...that my wife and I love.

I loved all of your reviews... of the places you visited... as you travel the USA.
and you appear to be blessed... to have a lot of good experiences.

The Best Westerns you stayed at in Sioux Falls and Spokane and Roseburg (OR)
are among the friendliest in the US... happy to know you were pleased.....
and that we did well too... so thank you.

As for dogs.... yes... we are a pet friendly hotel... and thanks for the commentary.

As for burgers...
well here in Atlanta... the two best restaurants... for burgers.... in my opinion...
are at ... Max Lager's Brewery across the street... great fish and chips too...
and...
Ray's in the City... three blocks down the street from us....
Ray's also has the best Sushi bar in downtown Atlanta.

Anyway...that sounds too much like a commercial... so...
back to point... really glad you had a good time in Atlanta.

The staff, room and price were all excellent. You have to pay to park in their basement garage, which was down a steep incline and the spaces were extremely close together. There is very little room to maneuver around.

Parking is the curse... of every hotel owner / operator in downtown Atlanta.

We have 37 parking spaces below the hotel...and it is indeed very tight...
but doable...wish it was not so difficult...
but...your car will be in... a rather safe environment... while your tour Atlanta.

Thank you for your mentioning...the staff was great.
