I just got home from a one night stay at the Hotel Indigo in Atlanta. A friend and I went to see Legally Blonde at the Fox Theatre and one reason I selected this hotel is because it was right across the street from the theatre. I got a rate of $109 for a double/double room, which I thought was reasonable for the area, so I booked it, even though some of the reviews on here made me wonder if I should keep looking. Since all of the reviews seemed to agree that the hotel was clean, I decided that I could survive for a night.
All in all, my experience mirrored many of the reviews here. The check-in staff was not especially friendly, but the check-out was a breeze, and staff was very attentive and concerned about the quality of our stay. Parking was in the Georgian Terrace garage, which was a bit confusing. It was $18 and we just stayed parked there for the matinee and were not charged any extra for that, even though by the time we left the garage, it was 5 hours after hotel checkout. The public areas of the hotel were attractive, with the "indigo" theme throughout.
The room itself was on the 12th floor, facing Peachtree Street. It was small, but cute. It had a very beachy, cottagey sort of feel to it with all the blues and greens. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean.
Now for the negatives. The bathroom was TINY. I had read that on here and hoped that people were exaggerating the smallness of the bathroom, but no...it is miniscule. The sink and toilet really do almost touch. There was barely room for me to stand sideways between them and I considered myself a little smaller than average. However, I wasn't planning on doing aerobics in there, so it was fine. The shower itself was good sized and the water pressure was excellent. Bath products were Aveda. Also, the bathroom was very clean.
The only other negative was noise. As soon as we turned off the TV, we began to hear all the noise from Peachtree St. Horns were honking, people were yelling, sirens were going by and unless the air happened to kick on, it sounded as if all of the above were in the room with us. In the morning, the hallway noise came in just as loudly. The people across the hall were up by 7:30 and kept going in and out of their room, letting the door bang.
At any rate, the small bathroom and lack of good noise-proofing are not enough to keep me from staying there again, if the price is right.
