“Great location, hotel with the basics”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Central location, near the convention center (7-9 min walk), and across the street from the aquarium and World of Coca Cola. Typically Garden Inn's are setup for business travelers, but there were lots of families (with small kids) here, so the hallways and rooms were noisy (I'm sure this is typical of the summertime). If you want a quiet sleep, bring earplugs. I heard my neighbors TV until past midnight (walls are very thin). I was given a handicap room, and the shower area looked like it needed repair and was dated. As well the toilet seat needed to be repaired. One thing I didn't like is paying for a basic hotel breakfast which is free at other hotels. I did go to the pool mid-day, and the water was pretty dirty, lots of hair and other dirt. The pool towels were thin and the size of hand towels (just take 3 or 4). The workout center was in great shape with all the equipment working (also had a good free weight selection). I really liked the Keurig coffee maker, and it was a nice touch to have free coffee, water, lemonade and snacks in the lobby. Overall it was a good stay, but as a business traveler, next time I'd pay extra to stay at the Omni.

Thank you so much for the feedback about your visit. As an experienced traveller, you have great insight on potential areas of improvement that would improve the guest experience. I must apologize for the condition issues in your shower area. We are currently in the process of performing preventative maintenance to keep our rooms in great shape, but as you can imagine, the volume of travelers that pass through makes it a constant process. We're glad to know you enjoy other aspects of your experience.

Thank you again for the feedback. We hope to have a second opportunity to serve you.

Regards

Harman

The location of this hotel is great for tourists as you are next to the aquarium, World of Coca cola and Centennial Park. We had problems finding it as we were coming into town on the freeway and saw a hotel with a H on it and went to the wrong Hilton. Then we found the right one but couldn't see the entrance was when you were driving. The valet parking was good and reception was efficient and friendly. The room was a good size with a huge bed and a view of the aquarium and park. We were woken at 2.30am by very noisy neighbours arriving and then coming into our room via the connecting door but that's not the hotels fault. This is a good hotel with a great location and helpful staff.

This hotel has bed bugs! The general manager Harman Hall has no customer service skills and did not take this matter seriously! However if your hunger for Hilton points risk your health, complain a little and you might get some. Not only is this hotel a health risk but it is also a safety risk. My previous stay at this establishment resulted in another complaint in which we were offered a free meal out of the deal. My co-worker and I were staying here before and housekeeping left the room open all day and was still open upon our return. After complaining we got dinner on Mr. Hall. Again Mr. Hall's customer service skills are degrading and very poor to say the least! Enjoy your stay, good night and don't let the bed bugs bite(literally).

Jean Marie at the front desk was exceptional and very accommodating. I also felt very well taken care of by the cleaning and breakfast staff. I left feeling very pleased with the reputation of Hilton Garden Inn in general. I look forward to another stay with you!

I stayed here for an event at the World Congress Center. A shuttle was available which was helpful in the 90 degree heat, but not necessary if you're fit and don't mind a 4 - 5 block walk. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, though had to ask for a working hairdryer twice before one was delivered to my room. Great location if you plan to visit the Aquarium, World of Coke and Centennial Park. This property is an easy walk to all three. College Football Hall of Fame will literally be across the street when it opens in 2014. Adjacent Legal Seafoods has a nice menu for a quick bite at the bar or a more leisurely dinner.

Thank you for posting a review of your experience. It's always helpful to hear feedback from our guest. I'm very sorry about the mishap regarding the hair dryer you requested. We'r actually undergoing software installation that will increase the speed and efficiency of service for requests. We realize that every minute counts for our customers.

I recently stayed here for an event that was taking place at the GWCC. While not as convenient as the Omni that is practically attached to the GWCC, the HGI is a great alternative (and a HHonors property). The Embassy Suites is a couple blocks closer, but I see no reason to pay the extra to stay there when the HGI provides great accommodations, a wonderful cooked-to-order breakfast, and (from part of the hotel) great views of the city.

Easy couple blocks from Centennial Olympic Park, Aquarium, World of Coke, CNN, and plenty to do within walking distance.

If I had a complaint, it would be with the lack of decent airport transportation. The only three options are MARTA (cheap and easy, but quite a walk to the nearest MARTA stop if you've got luggage and/or are traveling super late night or early morning); Shuttle service (Which costs money, but stops running at 9:30pm); or Cab (which is way overpriced, but our only option given late arrival time from ATL).

Also take note that if walking to the GWCC, it can seem a little uncomfortable late at night. Marietta St isn't the warmest of environments. I expect this to improve a fair amount when the College Football Hall of Fame construction is complete.

If back at the GWCC again, I'd most likely stay here if I can get a more affordable transportation option squared away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Luckie St. You'll see the backside of the Aquarium (not too impressiv...

POSITIVES:
Great location; decent size room; hotel was very clean; and there was a lovely, big, outdoor pool.

Staff were very friendly and professional.

NEGATIVES:
Couple of issues with the wi-fi cutting out. But at least it was free.

Mattress sagged quite a bit, but wasn't uncomfortable.

Shame that the bathroom only had a shower - not a dual shower/bath. Not the end of the world, but it's nice to have the choice.

Sound proofing wasn't great. Could hear a baby crying upstairs and people in the hallway and the rooms next door. Not objecting in any way to the baby crying - it's what they do, and as parents, we've all been there. Just surprising that some hotels still skimp so much on sound proofing.
