“Excellent acoustics, great balcony seating, very pleasant venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Saw Gino Vannelli on 1/24/2012, first time back in many years, and the place has really improved since its early days. Great acoustics, good seating, very good views and sound from the balcony, where they also have restrooms and a limited service bar (beer and wine). Main bar is on the ground level-- CASH ONLY! Parking is $7.00 in a lot behind the facility, also cash only.. and be sure and pay the right person.. the one with the tickets that they put on your dash. Seating is general admission so allow time to park and get in to select your seats. If you've never strolled around Atlanta's Little Five Points (location of the venue), then come early and see the unique area, which has many restaurants to consider before the show.

“Intimate Venue Presenting Great Acts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

The Variety gives concert goers a great chance to experience the sounds of some great acts. Our most recent visit saw Railroad Earth as the headliner. We decided to sit in the balcony area this time. Great sound and good positioning for the light show, give the balcony a shot if your not up for rockin' out up front. You'll be closer to the restrooms as well as the smaller, tamer upstairs bar area.

“Great Venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Try to get one of the seats on the sections on either side of the auditorium on the elevated platforms, you'll see the act better.

“Brings in some classic acts, and plenty to do nearby”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

First off, the Variety Playhouse is in a great area. It's in the middle of "Little Five Points", as well as just down the street from the Virginia-Highlands restaurant/bar area, and about five miles from downtown Decatur, which also has a great town square and great restaurants and drinking establishments. We went to see Asia at the Variety Playhouse. This venue will bring in older acts and smaller acts. It probably seats 2,500 (just a guess), and at many shows, they leave an area up front to stand if you'd like. It's a little bit run down, which does absolutely nothing to take away from its charm. Shows here bring in a lot of baby boomers as well as younger ones. A great night out!

“Cool venue in an eclectic neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

A friend and I went to see the group Pentatonix recently at the Variety Playhouse. This was my first visit to the venue. It had great sound and comfortable seating. There's space in front of the stage for those who want to stand and a good deal of seating downstairs and in the balcony. We chose the balcony seating and weren't disappointed by the view or sound quality. I look forward to my next visit to the Variety Playhouse. There is parking nearby in a lot but we just parked on the street a little ways into Inman Park and it was close enough to walk.
