I had high expectations for the "biggest and best" aquarium in the US. It is indeed large. The layout of the place is nice, especially for groups, because all the exhibits circle around to a main hall, so it is easy to find members of your party if you get separated.
There were a few nice things...the beluga whale exhibit was beautiful...the glass wall with jellyfish behind it was nice, and the river otter exhibit offered excellent views of these playful animals both above and below the water. My husband was most excited to see the whale sharks, and it was a first for us, but a little disappointing because they were not as big we expected. There were many touch tanks, which was nice, and I even got to touch an anenome, which was interesting.
The 4D movie was awful! There was no plot to the film, the jokes and characters seemed to be just a rip off from Disney's Finding Nemo. The songs were annoying, and the show really didn't make good use of the 4th dimension special effects compared to the show at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. I would NOT pay extra for the premium day pass...skip the movie!
I would also have to agree with the other reviewers that there is not as much educational content at this aquarium compared to others I have visited.
Finally, the parking garage for the aquarium is a LONG walk from the main entrance, and it costs $10. to park there. There are many other garages and surface lots in the area that are closer and cost less ($5.-$7.)
