I recently stopped at the Emory location to give this place a try as i've often heard good things about them. A petty full dining room at lunchtime also offered promise. However, after a couple of visits the phrase "nothing special" rings in my head.
On the first visit I tried the brisket sandwich, which I found dry and flavorless. The sides were hushpuppies and baked beans, and neither appeared fresh. The hushpuppies were dry and probably frozen at some point. With a drink, all this was $11, which I found pricey for this quality.
Since brisket is not everyone's bag in the southeast, I stopped there again about a week later and tried the pulled pork. Again, not much flavor and I had to drench it in sauce to give it some taste. After a few bites I concluded this place did not meet the expectations I had based on other people i'd spoken with.
One other thing is the same person waited on me both times I went in there, and he never said thank you on either visit when I placed my order. In fact, the service was pretty cold and impersonal. Had the food been better I could excuse that, but in the end there are just to many reasons not to go there anymore.
