I've been to South City Kitchen twice in the last 3 years, and I kid you not... I rate it as one of my favourite restaurants of all time. The service is good and the food is better. On both occassions, I think I had their 'signature' dishes - fried green tomatoes & fried chicken. I will admit my first experience may have been a tad bit better than the second, but needless to say, I'm looking forward to my next trip to Atlanta when I can enjoy SCK again. Hopefully my new hubby will like it just as much!

I was in Atlanta on business and went to South City Kitchen based on reviews, though mixed, that I had read. I should have gone elsewhere. The fried green tomato appetizer was excellent and was the only good dish I had all night. The salad was garnished with oven-dried tomatoes that were so tough they rocketted around the plate as I tried to eat them. For the main course I had the duck 'cassoulet'. First of all, it was extremely salty, even by the standards of cassoulet. The sausage was flavored with something similar to Asian five-spice, the confit was smoked and the beans were flavored with bacon - all delicious seasonings - but in combination they were in conflict. The service was quite good but the place was just as noisy as all the other reviewers point out. All in all, there is nothing inspiring about this place based on the dinner I had.

I eat in this place on a Thursday night with my wife. As an appetizer, we order the chicken liver and it was delicious. I order the fried chicken and my wife a duck dish in the entrees menu. The chicken was good but my wife’s duck come with some type of potato “tortilla” with crawfish that to our understanding was rotten. It taste like meat left outside the refrigerator for a couple of hours. She didn’t eat it and she did not feel like eating anything else. We informed the waiter who took it out of the bill without offering any explanation.... Disappointing and may be dangerous.

Went there a rainy Sunday night. All of us ordered the Kentucky BBQ which was on special. DELICIOUS. Especially washed down with the best Kentucky Bourbon Woodford Reserve.
