Fellow Trip Advisor readers-Stay away from Pitty Pat's Porch in dowtown Atlanta. I just returned from a 5-day trip, and dined at many restaurants, and this by far was the worst. The service was decent, and the food was mediocre at best. The concept/decor is really cute (MIss Pitty Pat from Gone With the Wind), but the restaurant is very run down. Ok, here is goes. 1) They used classic bait and switch practices. 2) The waitress would not return to the table to discuss the bill. 3) She handed us the credit card slip and tried to hold onto the itemized bill.
We were dining with a large group of 10 and when we were brought down to the dining room from the lobby, the waitress asked one of our guests before we even sat down if we wanted their "appetizer sampler", he was kind of caught off guard and said sure. The platter contained bean cakes, catfish strips, shrimp, crab (mostly spinach) dip and little crackers. When I finally demanded the itemized bill (because the final bill seemed so high) they charged us $82.00 just for the appetizer, over $10.00 per guest -WHAT A JOKE!!!. After unsuccessfully trying to get the waitress to come to our table to discuss the bill, (they told us she had gone home) we were told that we ordered it, so we pay for it. Also, the alcoholic drinks are very overpriced. One guest ordered during the course of the meal 3-vodka (well not call) on the rocks, a whopping $42.00 on the bill. (This is not the Ritz-Carlton, right). Save your money on this tourist trap. If you want real homecooked southern cooking go to Mary Mac's Tea Room, by far one of the most outstanding, authentic southern dinners I've ever enjoyed.
