“Great food! Great service! Perfect atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

Love the experience the Coach House has to offer. The staff talked about the history of the facility, great menu description, and the manager even stopped by to see how everything was. Did not know it was a non-profit group that runs the Coach House.
Ask to be seated in Jobie area when you go.

“A Bit of Southern Charm for Ladies Who Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

I went with my mother and her friends for a lovely, old-fashioned Southern lunch at the Swan Coach House. Formerly the coach house for the grand and glorious Swan House, the restaurant resides on what are now the grounds of the Atlanta Historical Center and is operated by the ladies of the Forward Arts Foundation.

It is a fresh-flower-and-white-linen-napkin kind of place that harkens back to the old Southern tea rooms Junior Leaguers used to operate. In fact, the menu reminds me of the best of the Junior League cookbooks with soups and salads that, at one time, would have been served at white glove bridge lunches.

So, bless yo' lil' heart, honey! Git yourself down to the Swan Coach House and by all means, order their signature chicken salad, served in a handmade timbale, with a side of their scrumptious frozen fruit salad. I had forgotten all about frozen fruit salads but since eating at the Swan House, I've tried three different recipes from old Southern cookbooks. None are as good as theirs.

They also have shrimp salad, Caesar, Cobb, Caribbean chicken and salmon salads as well as quiches and tea sandwiches. Or you can have heartier fare with a burger, a variety of hot entrees and other sandwiches, even a fried green tomato sandwich.

This is the kind of special place where you CANNOT leave without having dessert. You can be boring and order key lime pie or Southern pecan pie (is there any other kind?) or you can pamper yourself with a visual and gustatory treat: the French Silk Swan. A little pastry swan, floating on a meringue base, filled with chocolate mousse topped with Chantilly cream and slivered almonds, should supply you with all your carbs for the month!

“Always wonderful”

This is "old Atlanta" at its best. The food is delicious and the service excellent. Great place for ladies to go, although husbands enjoy the food too.

“Pink Food Paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Pink strawberry soup is even more surreal eaten in a pink room surrounding by ladies dressed in pastels. The Swan Coach House pairs that slightly sweet soup with crunchy, salty homemade dress straws - oh my. Shrimp salad, frozen fruit salad, crab cakes, fried green tomato sandwiches and sweet potato fries are other savory staples not to be missed. If you can save room for dessert, you have to choose between Swan's Delight, homemade pecan pie and key lime pie. Decent beer and wine selections are available as well. My sweet husband has borne the flower bomb atmosphere to take me here several times. So glad their menu does not include calorie counts. Follow your visit to the adjacent art gallery and gift shop. Well worth the trip.

“Atlanta elegance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Flocks of gracious Atlanta ladies in flowery frocks, excellent service, decent good value light lunches, interesting design-oriented gift shop. And the profits go to support the arts in Atlanta. Lots to like here, but definitely dress up, not down...
