I was staying at the Marriott and missed lunch so was hungry. The hotel gave me a complete list of restaurants between the Marriott and Buckhead.
I chose Violette, about a mie away. Small restaurant; I drove past it the first time. I'm very pleased I chose Violette. Lovely live piano with Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis & Beatles music.
I started with the Gruyere salad. Nice, but not exceptional. I did like the fact you could order a small or large salad. Small was very substantial.
However, the duck was fabulous! 2 thighs and legs served with a lemon, violet sauce was cooked perfectly with crisp skin. The duck was accompanied by delicious mashed potatoes and fresh zucchini, red pepper and green beans, cooked perfectly crisp and served in a light basil sauce with fried basil leaves. Delicious! Only about $23 for the duck; I considered it a bargain for the quality of the food.
I also tried burgundy and Bordeaux by the glass. Very nice.
No comments on dessert. I was too full. If you like duck, don't miss this. ( the rack of lamb also sounded amazing)
