I recently attended a training conference at this hotel, and everyone in our group, including all the local hosts and trainers, ended up being stranded at the hotel for five days due to the great ice storm of 2011. There were no cabs, no buses, no deliveries, etc., so the hotel staff ended up being stranded there, too. Not a problem. They made necessary adjustments to the restaurant schedule, menu, and housekeeping, all the time letting us know what was happening and really going out of their way to make sure that guests were inconvenienced as little as possible. Our group's plans were constantly in flux as some people canceled and others added nights, and the constant answer from the hotel was, "no problem." The conference center staff couldn't do enough for us, and whenever we needed something (a cable, duct tape, new flipcharts, etc.) there was always somebody available, and we got what we needed pronto. What a refreshing change it was to encounter a true service-oriented and knowledgeable staff. The crazy weather situation is what made me take notice, but I would recommend the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center for others looking for a place to hold a meeting or conference. The restaurant is pretty good for this type of place, the front desk staff is great, the meeting facilities comfortable and up-to-date, and the location is very convenient. The only negative I noted is that the rooms are not that quiet. I was awakened by the clanging thud of people in the hall opening and closing their doors and the sounds of trash collectors at 5:30 AM. The Internet and parking, while not free, were very reasonable.

The great snow/ice storm of 2011 was a challenging week for the hotel.......which is why a wonderful review like yours means so much to the employees that worked here that week.

There were more than 40 employees that volunteered to check into the hotel Sunday (before the storm hit) just to make sure our guests would be well taken care of Monday morning. Because of the severity of the storm, most of those employees ended up spending 3, 4, or even 5 nights in the hotel just to make sure everything went as smooth as possible for our guests that week.
Thanks again for the review and we look forward to welcoming you back under better weather conditions!
P.S. The hotel does offer complimentary wireless internet connection in all of the guest rooms. A free access code is available anytime from the front desk.
