Owner description: The awesomest improv and scripted comedy in Atlanta - Dad's Garage performs almost every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night throughout the year. Oh, and we have buckets of beer on the cheap. Go and you'll love yourself a little more. We also offer improv classes, private workshops, and can be hired for special events. Get some!

“Oh what fun!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We had the pleasure of seeing Dad's Garage's version of Dickens' "Christmas Carol" and I've never seen anything like it! Who knew it could be a comedy? The audience selected an "extra" character before the show and our choice was Sherlock Holmes! You can only imagine the chaos Sherlock caused! I'd highly recommend anything that is being done at Dad's Garage. This was my third visit and they just get better and better, with talented improv artists, beautiful costumes and clever use of space and props. Give yourself a treat!!

“Improv Based Version of Christmas Carol - A Lot of Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

I saw Dad's Garage's show Invasion Christmas Carol last night. An awful lot of fun. Each night a surprise character or characters appear in the show. Last night was Mary and Joseph. The cast was very funny and the concept was well done. Everyone involved with the group was very friendly and welcoming. It was my first time at the theater and I intend to return to see one of the less scripted, more improv-based shows.

“Perfect, quirky and fun entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

Attended the most recent presentation - A well-done spoof of Japanese game shows. The improv cast did a fabulous job all around. Having lived in Japan, and seen some of the absurdity, this show was really a hoot. The presentation team, using simple props, engaging the audience, playing well off each other throughout the evening. Reserve in advance to get seats, especially for their more popular presentations.
This is a funky setting, with older seats (though comfortable enough).
Every presentation is - it's theater, remember - different, so the quality will naturally vary.
Suggest checking out their website and then choosing what you attend accordingly. There are multiple dining venues within walking distance, and the neighborhood is pleasant to walk in on the main drag, go window shopping, etc.
They have parking, but it is best to get to the neighborhood a fair bit before showtime as the lot has a handful of spaces that tend to fill up early (Would be better if there were some lines painted for the lot, and, as there are many on an incline it would be easy to see doors getting dings from negligent patrons).
Any disappointments; Smoking on the deck in front of the theater (no 50 foot rule - like on military bases and at federal/state buildings) during intermission really made it unpleasant to go outside to sip our sodas and talk. If you're asthmatic or have any allergies to smoke you won't be able to relax in front of the entrance.
Dad's Garage adds a vital spark to the color of the neighborhood and to Atlanta's entertainment scene. Our visit was long overdue, and, having been here once, we're going to look to catch their next presentation, and probably add it to our dance card every month.
